Re: Disney Infinity - Questions

Wow, just got the starter set for 20% off at toysrus, both play sets at target for 50% off, and two 3-packs at Walmart for 50% off.

That seems unheard of on release day.

I thought I read somewhere that the TRU exclusive packs all come with Mike's Car as one of the discs, which is pretty lame if true. Why would you want to buy more than one TRU pack if that's the case?

I did get one TRU pack and will be picking up more regular packs so I'm sure I'll have some to trade.

I did not see that before . crap ... guess I'll throw the 7 extras up on ebay and see what happens, or I'll hold onto them until the swap event on 9/7

That said, I am disappointed that the book that holds these disks does not include a space for the exclusives. Since it is made out of foam, I might just notch out a space for them

When I asked this morning, the lady at the register confirmed, but didn't have any other details. She said she was disappointed because they expected more people for the early opening (there were only 2 others besides me there).

Re: Disney Infinity - Questions

So I canceled my Infinity order, but I kept my order of 3 sidekick pack from BB because it was more than half price off ($12.99). now I'm considering jumping back into this for my son. figure I could get the game, the cars crystal thing and i'd be pretty much set for a while.

edit: now i think about it, i may just wait for christmas for him. i don't see any pressing need to get this now. nothing looks like it's timed and there will be new characters out later this year.

Just look up Disney Infinity on toysrus.com. Click on the Starter Set (any system), and a little bit down the page, there will be a link for a coupon.

Re: Disney Infinity - Questions

Alright, fuck it. I'm in. Bought the started pack from TRU w/ the 20% off, got the crystal mcqueen, mater, 2 packs (1 TRU exclusive pack) and the $12.99 mispriced sidekick pack from BB. That should be good for now.

Re: Disney Infinity - Questions

Wasn't going to get into this, but I caved yesterday and preordered at gamestop.

Stopped in to pick it up today with the throw-in of Mater and a power pack for preordering.

Hadn't seen the Target ad but it was next door, so I stopped in and saw the Lone Ranger and Cars playsets for half off so decided to grab them due to the price. Got to the register and for some reason, the computer system said not to sell the Cars set until October despite being in the ad. Finally got a manager over to scan the Lone Ranger set twice to get the sale price. Very odd experience.

With the 3-packs on sale at Walmart, I may have to stop there despite not wanting to go nuts on this game off the bat.....Ugh.

Good thing I didn't get this crazy with Skylanders.

Re: Disney Infinity - Questions

Awww, crap. I didn't realize that you had to have the mcqueen/holly play set just to play the cars level. I didn't order that. Sonofabitch.

I'm in the same boat, and I haven't had a chance to play yet.

I figure I'll just open up the game to try it, leaving everything else sealed and returnable until I decide if I like the game. The deals on some of the multipacks were too good for me to pass in case the kids (and I) like the game.

9 year old kid (daughter) and 40 year old kid (wife/mother)

I am also now reading that the Wii version is even more gimped than I already thought ... no local co-op for story play only Toybox mode ... oh well, again I don't have a lot of other better options

Exactly.

My kid is three which I think is a little too young for the game part, but she might dig the figurines... Trying to both convince myself it's OK to not start in on this, but also that it's OK to start in on this.

I'm sitting here with coupons in hand and debating to drive the one mile to Toys R Us or not.

Re: Disney Infinity - Questions

Damn you Disney, Toys R Us and coupons!
Spoiler:

I bought 2 freaking packs of power discs with one of them being the exclusive pack and still got a duplicate out of the remaining 3! What a travesty these power discs are going to be.

Does this also mean that there are only a handful of unlocked levels in the game disc and we will be forced to buy the 30+ dollar packs from this point forward to unlock the rest?
