Stuck at 44 % installing for the past five minutes. This is ridiculously long time. It's been installing and downloading for the past hour!

Re: Dead Rising 3 (XB1) - November 2013

I'm picking up my copy from Best Buy. I pre-ordered it and 2 other games to get the buy 3 games get $25 in reward certificates.... I couldn't pre-order the Day One edition as it showed out of stock online and it didn't allow for in-store pickup.

I'm hoping that person that picks my game grabbed a Day One edition. Or, when I go to the store when it opens, there is a Day One edition available and I can just have them swap it out.. As long as it doesn't mess with the Buy 3 get $25 deal. Plus, the other two games had $10 certificates for pre-ordering.

Once I get that $45 in my reward zone account, with the auto 20% off new game, it will be like getting a free game when more XB1 games are released.

Re: Dead Rising 3 (XB1) - November 2013

Really enjoying the game so far. Never played much of the first two so I can't compare.

They really don't make it easy to play co-op with a friend. It's not like on 360 where you see someone on your friends list playing and just do Join Game. Looking online it seems like other people are also having issues, and the best solution is to create a party and then do Invite Party to Game. But a friend and I were also having issues doing it that way. Invites weren't showing up. We had to cancel and remake the party a couple times before it worked. Co op is really fun, and any collectibles or blueprints you pick up count for both people, which is cool.

Has anyone been able to get the SmartGlass to work for this game? All mine does is show the ZDC logo thing on the screen, and it has what looks like a home button icon, but you can't actually click on it. I'm not sure how or when it's supposed to do things or what I'm supposed to do to activate it.

I had the same problem. It looks like you have to launch the companion app first, then boot the game. I got it to work this morning like that.

Really enjoying the game so far. Looks and plays great. It's a lot more like DR2: Off the Record in that you can just run around and have fun and do side missions without a timer. I also really like how everything you pick up and create is stored in a locker so you can just go an get anything you want at any time in the game (clothing as well). I also have not noticed any frame rate problems at all, so that whole issue seems to be for nothing.

Re: Dead Rising 3 (XB1) - November 2013

Played the first two. This game... it's fucking awesome. Sure, the graphics aren't anything amazing, but the sheer scope and epicness of the open world make up for it. The amount of mass destruction and carnage you can cause is fucking great.

I do think they went a bit too lax on the "no timer" for story mode. It seems like at least for main objectives that should have a timer, they never do. Say for instance (minor spoiler)
Spoiler:
your character gets bit by a zombie, and needs Zombrex, and they say you have a few hours before turning... well, the game gives you no time limit, kind of stupid.
That's really my only complaint, oh and the force feedback trigger when firing the gun just feels odd.

Anyone that liked the original and either loved or hated the timer (since there's nightmare mode if you like the hardcore aspect of the originals), will love this game. No question.

Love how ridiculous this game is.

I do hate that even when paused if I yell at my dog the game unpauses it and calls the zombies over. Fuckers.

Yeah I saw that other people got it to work that way and finally got it to work.

There are a bunch of locked houses in Sunset Hills (I think that's the name, the second part of town you go to) that I still can't get into to get blueprints and things. I thought the SmartGlass might get me in but it hasn't so far, just a couple stashes. Do the app missions get you in these places? Or are they later story missions? One thing that's frustrating is seeing blueprints or collectibles on the map and not knowing if you're not figuring out how to get to it, or if you just can't get in an area yet because you're not far enough along in the story.

I have had some side missions let me in to a couple of rooms with blueprints. Maybe you just need to keep playing longer.

How do you access the sewers? I follow the pointer that leads to the cemetery but there's no way i can see to enter. It's all blocked off from where the pointer says i need to go.

Anyone had any luck in co-op? Me and my friend have yet to be able to connect to each other. We are in a party together and both have open nat.

Really unhappy so far with the party chat system and this is just adding to that.

Look closer at the map, and you'll see
Spoiler:
there's an outline of the sewer going across the street to a different building. Basically, you need to go THERE, which will get you into the sewer, then you'll come out on the other side where you're seeing that pointer.

Re: Dead Rising 3 (XB1) - November 2013

Finished two playthroughs of the game this week: Story mode (+ all sidequests and psychos) and Nightmare mode (main missions only). An awesome experience that anyone who liked the past games in the series will fully enjoy.

My only gripe is with Overtime mode, which is one of the most annoying, frustrating extended missions I've ever encountered in a sandbox game. It's infuriating.

Also, I'm not sure where the "no timer" talk came from originally, but there totally is one, even in Story mode, because it's integral to the story. But you have more than enough time (in Story mode) to get everything done with plenty of time to spare. All of the side missions have their own timers and expire eventually as well. I should mention that I'm totally ok with this, because I think the time limits are an absolutely crucial part of the Dead Rising experience.

Re: Dead Rising 3 (XB1) - November 2013

Are you sure time actually advances always in story mode? I was assuming that at some point, time would stop advancing if you stopped making progress.

I do like that they kept timers on side missions, and you usually have a pretty decent amount of time to complete them.

The best part of the game is not having to escort survivors after you save them.

Yes, time can run out in Story mode. But it's not something most people will have to worry about. There's enough time to do almost everything, including finding all the collectibles.

So I just finished chapter 3 out of 7. I only have just under 3 days left until the bombing. Am I screwed or can I finish in time? I've screwed around A LOT

Yes, you have time if you're doing Story mode. Nightmare mode, definitely not.

Re: Dead Rising 3 (XB1) - November 2013

You were correct. I finished the story with a little over a day to spare and got to level 48. Grinded some more kills while collecting crap after Overtime mode and now I am level 50 like 6 times over Trying to collect everything and maybe actually 100% this game!

Re: Dead Rising 3 (XB1) - November 2013

Crap. I have all 101 weapon blueprints and my locker has all 101 combo weapons, however I do not have the achievement for creating every combo weapon. That means I picked up a combo weapon somewhere without ever making it, and I have no way of knowing which one. I get to make all 101 items now
