I don't know why you have to be so condescending. I know I ask a lot of questions and yes, maybe sometimes inane, but I always have the best intentions and don't mean to rub anyone the wrong way. I'm just trying to get the most enjoyment out of a game i particularly like and yes, I even searched for how do you get more GLOO in Prey and didn't come up with much. The wiki is still under construction and doesn't have too much info. So, i come here where I feel comfortable and despite some harrassment, get good info by members here who don't mind giving some help to a virtual internet stranger.

I have the best intentions also. It's called tough love. I'm trying to make you more self sufficient.

I'm Not sure why you're giving him shit either. It's like the people that won't answer someone's question because they "don't have time" yet they go and complain about them or post a let me google that for you link.

Re: Prey (2017)
So I just figured out the recycling and fabricating, like Quest said, yes, I'm a moron and yes I didn't quite pay attention to all the emails and stuff, but I went back and learned it on my own and it was so damn fun. Taking all that frayed wire or copper whatever and spare parts and recycling them. Then, making them into GLOO canisters and medkits was a blast and is so useful.
I understand and it's great and semi-unique. Can't wait to see what else I can make. It all came together when struggling with fabricator and looking at the symbols and trying to understand and then going to recycler, where all I thought I was doing was storing to make room, and recycling them and have them come out like a gumball machine, picking them up and making such needed items was refreshing and pure fun.
Of course it has some comparison to BioShock, I mean Psi Hypos and neuromods couldn't have been ripped off more. But, this is so much different and certainly the enemies are different. I think this one is very unique and getting great...

Re: Prey (2017)
is no one else playing this, but the 3 of us?
i really like it and it gave me the "urge" to play again. that itch that i have been lacking. i mean i did have it with RE7 to some degree, but after doing what i did last night, i can't wait to get to more and to think i'm barely passed demo mark. this could take me the rest of the year. hope not though...

I've been playing through this and was enjoying it a lot, but I hit a massive difficulty spike last night. I'd been getting through everything pretty easily until the start of the 'Detour' mission and the immediate lead up to it. I probably died 20+ times getting from my office to the Psychotronics area. With the load times being so ridiculous, it's about enough to make me give up on the game. I'll probably push through another night or two and see if I find an item or skill that levels it back out a bit, but it's kind of ridiculous.

Re: Prey (2017)
So according to save game time I have played 12 hours, yet still early on, learning, fabricating (still have to find shot gun ammo plans. I know in Talos 1 lobby), searching, etc. I don't know where exactly I am in game. Just got the suit propulsion upgrade in Hardware Labs. But I've been taking my time and enjoying playing when I can a couple hours at a time. Those mimics really keep you on toes and I actually proceed with caution. This isn't run and gun. Love a good searching, exploring, but killing shit, mostly linear types of games. This fits the bill. Has some of the RPG elements. Not a ton, but at least I sorta understand what to do and how to do it, with the few questions, here and there, that I ask . But really enjoying. Although, all I've been playing and I don't quite understand the similarities to BioShock. It looks a lot different. Plays somewhat differently. I mean other games do the quest, follow a path to the overall conclusion. This has recycling and fabricating. Really different mechanics too imo. I mean find a key card, exploring dead bodies is similar but what else? I don't quite see it...

It will be $20 soon enough, probably before the end of Summer. Sales numbers, secretive though they are, seem to be terrible for this game. I wonder if the lack of review copies hurt sales and general enthusiasm.

Really addicting this game is. I love the leveling up system. You have to be careful how you go about it in the early goings. And those recycler charges are great. But I think it takes a bit to get the fabrication plans...

Re: Prey (2017)
For those playing: do the optional missions affect the overall main story in terms of challenge (I know it will open more of the actual story and plot details)?
Like do I have to complete more of main story to be able to actually do them? I dont need more power and won't face harder enemies will I? Just mostly bactracking and going to areas that were once inaccessible bc you had to get stuff during the main story to get optional stuff. Does that make sense at all?

I've still been working my way through this. Finding the shotgun shell schematic brought the difficulty back down to passable. Still, I've lost a lot of enthusiasm for the game. It wants you to traverse the station quite a bit, going back to previously visited areas to work on side quests or access things made available through upgraded powers. Unfortunately, the load times are the worst I've encountered in quite a while, maybe even the worst I've seen this generation. On top of that, there's the fact that all enemies respawn every time you leave an area. It's highly annoying to completely clear an area, realize you have to pop in and out of the station to do something and in the 5 minutes (3 load time, 2 doing something) you're gone, every damn alien is replaced. At this point, I'm just kind of bored with it and only playing to see the narrative wrap up. I even tried to take the escape pod, just to see if that was an actual ending to the game, but was treated to the equivalent of a 'you lose' screen.
