Re: Watch Dogs
Well, the PC version is still going to look awesome, so I'm not too concerned. I'm more worried about generic AssCreed gameplay and an excessively linear story that caps out at ~10 hours. Plus, the more I see of the city, the less and less it looks or feels like Chicago, which is disappointing, but I've already bitched about that plenty in this thread.

Re: Watch Dogs
I think we should wait until we see the actual game before flipping out over graphics. Someone could have accidentally messed up the trailer for all we know.
OTOH, if I'm Ubisoft I would turn around and release a kickass trailer asap showcasing the graphics. This is a huge release for them.

Re: Watch Dogs
I've read that they can certainly make it look better on one platform, but there's pressure from the other side to not make it look that much better on the competition's platform, so you get this downgrade.

Re: Watch Dogs
Well, that plan certainly sucks. I just might have to stick with the games that take advantage of the console's power than doing stuff half-assed because the platform throws a tantrum and threatens to not let it be released on said console.

I blame the Wii U.
Meanwhile, some Playstation exclusive content for the game:

Re: Watch Dogs
That looked better than the story trailer. Not E3 pretty, but better than Crackdown.
I could give a crap about 60 minutes of bonus content. That's not much to brag about.

Just to clarify: Our "Welcome to Chicago" trailer is indeed PS4 Devkit footage. I know this was a popular question so there you go .

I have no clue how last gen consoles are supposed to do all of the things they say they're trying to pull off in that video...obviously the graphics, but moreso the citizen AI stuff.

Re: Watch Dogs
One of the podcasts recently mentioned that the developer has already confirmed that the last gen versions will be less populated with citizens roaming the streets.

That whole online thing seems kind of cool, but I dunno. If there was no way to tell whether it was the computer or a real person, it might be cool. But I'd hate to have some tool come into my game and start doing stupid shit to take me out of the experience.
But the trailer looks really good, and the game looks like a hell of a lot of fun.

Re: Watch Dogs
Jesus, the way the videos have been coming out one would think this were a PS4 and PC exclusive.
Edit: Ah it was intentional, like Microsoft's little Metal Gear reveal last year:
"We have a partnership with Sony to promote this game. That's why we're here showing it this way," Graham told VideoGamer.com at a recent preview event explaining why only the PS4 version was on hand to media.
"The Xbox One version is good. I check it on the floor a lot. Animation-wise it's identical, absolutely identical. I know people talk about that a lot... But I can't tell the difference when I go on the floor. I have to look at the consoles because the TVs make a bigger difference in terms of what you see on somebody's machine. Is it calibrated correctly? Is it the resolution of the TV? Which kind of TV is it? I actually can't tell the difference on those two [consoles]. As far as I can see they're identical.
"And on the assets side where we work, they're absolutely identical. It's completely transparent to us. The only difference is the icon on the screen."

I'd say it's a welcome change of pace/tone. Makes me think of the destruction mode in Burnout Paradise for some reason.

Re: Watch Dogs
It means the animations are identical. One isn't going to look like InFamous SS and the other like Ryse.
