Dark Souls II Debuts at the 2012 Video Game Awards
Dark Souls II just got a world premiere trailer at the 2012 Video Game Awards. It's coming for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC. See for yourself. Looks ... tough, and unforgiving. As usual.

UPDATE: The game will star a new hero in a new world and will have a new director, as the series' creator, Hidetaka Miyazaki, takes on a supervisor role.

Skip ahead to 2:26 to see the trailer:

Very happy to hear this news, as Dark Souls is one of my top 3 games this generation.

Nice! Now I have to muster up the courage to try and finish the first one. Demon and Dark Souls both are terrifying to me.

Awesome! Demon's was great and I've shelved Dark for way too long. Must continue on and finish it.

Because I'm well-versed in RPGs and action-RPGs and have a pretty sturdy patience threshold, and even I came out of Dark Souls a little balder and plagued with hypertension. I seem to remember you having issues getting into ... Fallout, I think, and I was curious how you handled the openness and the rather punishing difficulty.

re: Dark Souls II (3/11/2014 -- PS3, 360, PC)

I've played Dark Souls for over 4 hours today, and I think I'm about ready to quit. Considering how much time I've already spent dying and retracing the same steps over and over, I just can't see it being a good way to spend my gaming time as the game goes on. I actually enjoy the game at some strange level despite how bad I am at it, but if I'm dying this much with early level minions, I don't think it'll go well as I get deeper and actually have to fight bosses as well.

yeah, it hasn't been fun, but the world is simply gorgeous and the mechanics are very intuitive.

Let's hope the sequel will have a proper PC port. Dark Souls was absolute trash for PC.

I forget the name of the class I used (the one that starts with the large axe), but I found the very start of the game the hardest. Once I had a few levels under my belt the game was a cake walk, bosses included. Nowhere near the difficulty of Demon's Souls.

I think my biggest frustration is how clunky it feels to use weapons like throwing knives or firebombs. I have to try to aim, pull up the menu, scroll to my choice, press the button, and then it actually happens. Meanwhile, I've lost control of my character and the screen is obscured while I'm doing all this. Maybe this is a normal RPG feature, but I'm not used to it yet. I really wish there was a way to assign something like the firebomb to a single button.

It's been a while, but I'm pretty sure there is a way to assign them to the use boxes you see at the bottom left.

I'm not too bright sometimes. Just pressing the down arrow cycles through those items during gameplay. Maybe I'll have more success now.

no, however i have been in a coma since I watched the video.

I know it was just a CG trailer, but I got goose bumps. I am scared they will "noobify" the game for the masses. I don't want it to be the "ninja gaiden 3) of the series.

Don't give up on it scott, stick with the game a little while longer. if it doesn't start to "click", you are dead inside and there is no hope for you.

like i told scott -- stick with it. it is most difficult at the beginning, once you get the hang of it the game turns out not to be all that bad. Patience and focus are 2 major keys when playing this game

check out my youtube channel -- i have around 40 Dark Souls strategy videos. take a look at them if you need help www.youtube.com/greywolfsifdca

I had this problem initially. What I actually did was watch a speed run of the game on-line. Its hard to emulate but it does give you a way to level up very very quickly.

There's a petition out to get this on the Wii U as well. That would be my console version of choice at this point; provided it would have full gamepad play as an option.

I'm in. DS is one of my favorite games ever. It's also the only game I have 1000/1000 achievements.
