Re: Dark Souls II (3/11/2014 -- PS3, 360, PC)
Oops, I saw them but forgot to respond. I'm not that far into the game, still exploring the first area. I've only fought one boss so far. It was a decent fight but didn't blow my mind. But then again, neither did Taurus demon last time.
The difficulty feels almost exactly the same as Dark Souls. I've yelled "son of a bitch!" at least 5 times so far, if that helps answer your question.
And I'm hoping that some equally awesome NPC will live up to Solaire's legacy.
No, you were right (at least about Dark Souls). I'm saying that it appears to be reversed this time around.

So what is the easiest path to take at the beginning? I'm still stuck at the hub worlds and each one I've died multiple times. In DS1 it was obvious which path was easy and I could grind that area infinite. Sucks you can't do that anymore

Where are you exactly? There's really only one main path to take. Everything else is either a side area or blocked off until later.

I went through the first mist to the left. Ended up killed by those two giants. The other part was that gate you lift and down a part where i got surrounded by four or five dudes that made quick work of me.

Yeah, I was wrong, there's definitely more than one path to take from the main hub area. I just hadn't figured out the others yet.
Any fears people had that this game would be easier to allow for broader appeal were completely unfounded. If anything, it's trickier, partly due to the health penalties for death and the fact that souls are finite this time around (although there are ways around both limitations).

I read that enemies will stop respawning in areas after you kill them so many times. I read that they did this so you wouldn't soul farm and couldn't buy alot of stuff.
The decreasing health bar sounds aggravatining, but this no enemy respawn is stupid.

I don't recall there being a good soul farming spot in Dark Souls like there was in Demon in 4-2 (4-1, maybe?).

I thought I read something like this too, but you could reset the stage/enemies at a bonfire.

I can confirm that they don't respawn if you killed them a number of times. There is a item that you can use at the bonfire to bring them back but they be stronger ever. Don't know why From Software made this but I'm not happy they did it. Kind of regret of buying this game.

If anything, it makes the run to certain difficult bosses less problematic. Think about it: how great would it have been in the first game if you could (eventually) get rid of all the enemies on the run up to Smough & Ornstein if you wanted?

It worried me at first too, but I haven't found it to be a problem at all so far. There's no shortage of souls in the game. The enemies stop spawning after you've killed them 10 times. But I started thinking about how many areas in the first game I actually repeated more than 10 times on a single playthrough, and in truth, there weren't very many.

level 49 with 20 hrs 45 min logged. Currently stuck on The Pursuer boss. Any tips? I can get him down to half health .
The limited enemy re-spawn is bullshit. I've cleared every enemy so I can't go back and grind to level up to take on the Pursuer. I hope they hear all the complaints and patch in infinite re-spawn.

Is he the second boss you're fighting? If so, it's a little early to take him on. Head back to Majula, there are 2 other possible paths to take into new areas.
Some tips just in case though:
1. Bait him, always dodge to the right to avoid his attacks, then take the opportunity to get 1 or 2 hits in.
2. Are you summoning help? It can make a big difference. I fought that boss 10+ times with others before I finally beat him.
3. You can use the ballistas to wipe out a huge chunk of his health, but it's almost impossible to do without a partner to distract him while you fire it.

It would be nice if the game had an actual map that would tell which areas I've explored.

I like the Binocular I found for my mage. Equip it in your left hand and press L1 to zoom on the enemy to shoot magic spell like Soul Arrow, very helpful in Heide's Tower of Flame where I use it on those giant knight. Also in Majula there is a shrine with a plaque that tell you
.

I ran around Majula close to ten times to find a new path but did not find any. Are they hidden paths? Or are you talking about the door blocked by that statue with the soldier that had the big ass blue sword?

I read that some of hex spells can be powerful. I think one called Climax suppose to be a boss killer spell but it use up some of your souls you have. So I be real careful on using that spell if you don't want to give up the souls you have.

Re: Dark Souls II (3/11/2014 -- PS3, 360, PC)
So I decided to go with A Battle Mage. Focus on Warrior and Sorcerer stats.
I am currently standing on over 25k souls. Here are my stats:
VGR-10
END-8
VIT -7
ATN-12
STR-17
DEX-12
ADP-7
INT-17
FTH-12
Now Is it a good idea to pump points into one stat? Or is the strategy to leveling spreading them out little by little? Say for example I put all 5 points into END. and then the next 5 would go to into STR. So far I've been splitting the points up one stat at a time as I've never had this many souls on me.

VGR -7
END - 8
VIT- 6
ATTN - 24 (beside getting more slots for spells, it help you cast faster.)
STR - 10
DEX - 9
ADP - 8
INT - 39 (need to raise one more to use the powerful Soul Spear)
FTH - 17
Equipment wise I have Archdrake Staff +3, Fire Longsword +3, Binocular, Sacred Chime (for casting Miracles), Merchant Hat +2, Black Hollow Mage Robe, Leather Gloves, Leather Boots, 4 rings equipped Ring of Binding, Ring of Restoration, Covetous Silver Serpent Ring +1, Chlorantly Ring. Once I hit 40 in INT will go to ATTN till it reach 30. Probaly put points in STR and DEX till they both reach 18 so I can use the Moonlite Greatsword but can't get it till NG+1.
