Fargo responds to questions about the Unity Engine:

I found this part particularly interesting:
After talking to Unity about [Linux support], we found they’ve already been working on a Linux port, so Unity is supplying inXile the Linux port alpha source code. InXile will work with Unity in order to port Wasteland 2 to Linux.

inXile is giving all the Wasteland 2 backers a free copy of The Bard's Tale (2004) on Steam. You have to request the Steam key by the end of the year. Instructions in the post:

New article about how inXile is using the Unity Asset Store to crowdsource art assets for Wasteland 2, paying fans for the assets they create:

In the process of redeeming it now. The inXile page makes it sound like it's not just the 2004 re-imagining, it's also the original three games from the 80s. If that's true, I just had a nerdgasm.

Yeah, the PC version of the game comes with the original trilogy. I checked myself just now.

I'm pretty sure the iOS version of the game comes with the original trilogy as well. It was free for the last couple weeks, but back up to a buck now.

inXile partners with publisher Deep Silver to distribute Wasteland 2:
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/...2/posts/535779
Bascially, Deep Silver will distribute all physical rewards as well as release a retail version of the game, while inXile retains all creative control.
Also, they have a tmblr for the game now:

Re: Wasteland 2 Project on Kickstarter
This is my first time seeing this thread. Though I never played Wasteland, I loved the old Fallouts, so I'm definitely thinking I'll pick this up. Hoping it'll run on either my older MacBook Pro or newer Air. Otherwise I will have to come up with some more excuses to buy that iMac I want...

Re: Wasteland 2 Project on Kickstarter
In the most recent update, inXile has stated that, instead of including Wasteland 1 with the Wasteland 2 game, they're now able to send it to backers early, in advance of Wasteland 2's release:
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/...2/posts/564723
Also, they're starting to close off reward tiers for Paypal backers.
Finally, you can order a limited signed print of the original Wasteland box art:

Out today!
The delay into September was to allow the physical copies to be available at launch. Hopefully I get mine today. I'm eager to see what's included in the box.

I want to be the post-nuclear version of Uncle Sam—to point, stare straight into your soul, and say "I want you for Desert Rangers." Even with its flaws, Wasteland 2 is nothing short of outstanding.

Although perhaps a little rough around the edges graphically, Wasteland 2 manages to transcend the long wait and provides a challenge with admirable scope. Those who sunk countless hours into the first game will thank inExile for staying true to the blueprint rather than losing the feel of the game in an attempt to capitalise on the latest trends.

Wasteland 2 might be daunting to newcomers, then, but its a sequel that successfully captures the strategic depth and black humor of the original.

Played about 45 minutes this morning, which was basically enough time to create 4 characters and start the first mission. Seems awesome so far. I like how one of the story characters is named Faran Brygo, .

I don't know if I suck or what, but I get owned in combat. I'm used to the Fallout turned based style as a player of those old games, but it seems like I miss a hell of a lot more and get hit pretty easily. Ugh.

Re: Wasteland 2 Project on Kickstarter
Yeah it's a fucking brutal game, especially at first. Now that my squad is around level 6 it's a bit easier but still really tough. You want to make sure your weapon skills for the weapons you are using are at least level 4 or 5 or else you'll miss all the time.

Screw this seasoned stuff, dropping down to Rookie difficulty. If I died any more times at the rate I was going I'd probably just drop the game completely. And i'm only on the first stupid radio tower.
