I can't wait to play it, already downloaded it, didn't want to play the demo because it doesn't carry over.

The demo was fantastic. I’ll be playing this next week on Game Pass. I was tempted to buy the Deluxe, but really wish you could buy it as an add on, just like Starfield.

I played around 10 minutes. Loving it so far, gonna take it to the end. Although I may turn the volume down, I hate jump scares

I'm having a hard time navigating. I have navigation on but I don't k ow what it's supposed to do because there's no hints.

It's a fairly linear game with no real off the path routes. Just go down an alley and if you hit a dead end, turn around and go down the next alley or path.

I don't know that I'm going to finish this one. Love the graphics, the atmosphere, the sound, the story, but the gameplay and navigation is doing nothing for me. There's no objectives, no map, and I'm not really looking forward to go up here down there left over there for 30 hours. I may Wiki the story and call it a day.

The game aesthetic is a bit more in line with Bloodborne but the gameplay differs in some ways, and it introduces some game mechanics that make it sufficiently unique.
I’ve beat 4-5 bosses now. It’s not particularly hard (yet) but it did take me about 10 tries to beat a boss that’s basically a giant furnace that shoots fire at you.

I'm shockingly having a difficult time finishing off captain dickhead policeman boss. My phantom gets smoked a tad too soon and then he goes into a frenzy on me and wipes me out before I can get the last few hits on him. I do like that a level upgrade is only a few runs through an area away. I'll probably keep leveling up my guy a bit before going back for another round. I look forward to getting to my P Organ.

I'm mixed on this. Sometimes it's cool, sometimes it feels like a Wish.com Bloodborne.
That's why they're so well liked. They're essentially the natural progression of the Metroidvania genre. Symphony of the Night remains my favorite PS1 game to this day.
Their difficulty is overstated though.

One thing that made it all click for me was realizing it’s all about rhythm. Nearly every enemy has an observable rhythm to their movements and attacks. Once you are in tune with that, the fights get significantly easier.
My biggest issue with Lies of P so far is that it is TOO reliant on the perfect block. You can regain health from imperfect blocking if you manage to get some quick hits in immediately after, but the best way to do the most damage most of the time is to perfect block enough times, stagger the enemy, get a fatal attack in, and repeat. Maybe I’m just old, but getting perfect timing on the block is not trivial and I can see why folks would give up if there’s not a tiny bit more leeway. I think even the true FROM Soft games give a few more frames.

People compare it to Bloodborne because of the look-and-feel, but the gameplay is often closer to Sekiro. I think Sekiro has a larger perfect guard/parry timing window than this does. Expanding the timing window here would be a welcome change I think.

I’m about 2/3 through this game. So far, I’d easily put it in my top three of the year, despite wanting to rage quit because of some of these boss fights

There are some tough ass enemies in this game. Some of the enemies can outlast your stamina by performing 6 or 7 moves in a row. Also, there are some very grotesque enemies as well.

I’m on the second last chapter, and I may have finally hit a brick wall in terms of being able to get passed the major boss fights. We’ll see, but I’ll say that I wish I could just spawn three helpers instead of just one.
edit: beat those fuckers down. On to the final chapter.

Playing it more, I'll revise my statement. I think it takes the good parts of Sekiro and Souls games. Dodging is definitely a viable strategy, as is parrying. Ideal is probably just picking whatever works best for you and for the the boss that you are on. If you like Soulslikes, I'd definitely try it. It is easily my favorite non-Fromsoft Soulslike.
