In the game of the year addition for GTA IV they added a checkpoint in the Nikko story but only for the last mission because of how ridiculously long it is -hey, at least they added one.

Re: Grand Theft Auto 5 to a V

That was a long mission, but I'm pretty sure 4 is the only GTA I actually completed the main storyline so I think there were harder missions in past games.

I know I definitely got annoyed with the end of San Andreas and clearing all the gang member areas.

What I thought was "bullshit" in GTA IV was the side stuff that had nothing to with crime - bowling, pool, a bad Tetris knockoff. If you wanted 100%/achievements, you had to do all those activities, and go pick up friends and maintain relationships.

Re: Grand Theft Auto 5 to a V

Count me in as another person who hated the extraneous dating and hanging out stuff. It would be fine if they were just extra activities thrown in (bowling, darts, etc) but basically forcing you to do it got really old after one or two times.

I enjoyed the two expansion packs much more than the original story.

Ya know, not defending it at all but aside from being forced to hang out with michelle once or twice....you don't even need to answer the phone after that.

Yeah, you shouldn't have to do a bunch of extra stuff to get the achievement that shows you did all the extra stuff.

Re: Grand Theft Auto 5 to a V

Dear all,

Today, we have an official release date to share with you: Grand Theft Auto V will arrive in stores on September 17, 2013.

We know this is about four months later than originally planned and we know that this short delay will come as a disappointment to many of you, but, trust us, it will be worth the extra time. GTAV is a massively ambitious and complex game and it simply needs a little more polish to be of the standard we and, more importantly, you require.

To all Grand Theft Auto fans, please accept our apologies for the delay, and our promise that the entire team here is working very hard to make the game all it can be. We are doing all we can to help ensure it will meet if not exceed your expectations come September – we thank you for your support and patience.

Yours,
The GTA Team

Damn! I was hoping to spend some of the summer months with this one. I could actually pretend to be outside without the 115 degree heat.

Re: Grand Theft Auto 5 to a V

I'm actually fine with this... with Bioshock Infinite, Gears of War Judgment, Tomb Raider, Dead Space 3, and Crysis 3 all looming the next few months I'll have plenty to keep be busy until September. Especially if it means fewer bugs.

Thats fine. I'm gonna have a backlog of all the Spring titles that were pushed from 2012 anyhow.

I kinda wish they'd just make this an Xbox 720 launch title then.

That's assuming a console launches this year (which I don't think it will)

There is a chance they could do a complete or game of the year edition next year with all of the DLC and launch it with the new systems though.

Re: Grand Theft Auto 5 to a V

Yeah, we might see some games get ported to the new consoles like some games in 2005 or so that got released on the Xbox 360 and the original Xbox and PS2. It wouldn't really utilize the full potential of the next-gen systems, but at least should be presented better (with 1080p and/or better framerates).

Well with this news coming out, I expect the Wii U version to be announced at Nintendo's E3 presentation.

Re: Grand Theft Auto 5 to a V

I was gonna say San Andreas came out pretty close to the current generation without having an update/remake but it still came out 13 months before the 360 launched. This could turn out to be a matter of weeks before the next-gen launch so I can't help but think it'll be updated quickly.

Re: Grand Theft Auto 5 to a V

fans have every right to bitch about this - over 5 years is more than enough time to make sure the right "polish" is on the game. Screams of bullshit but from the business side of things.....I think they did this just to push it as close to the holidays as possible but still...that even sounds strange for September.

I honestly lost all anticipation for this and I seriously think it will be best to wait until 2014 to buy this - not only will it be cheaper but you could probably also get all the DLC + the full game at less then full cost.....ha, that sounds good to me!!

Damn...I was looking forward to this game. It's the only game I was looking forward to on the 360.

Re: Grand Theft Auto 5 to a V

Since GTA V is out of the picture now and I've only played IV.....which one do you guys recommend I pick up next? I mean I have played III but I wouldn't go back to it.

Kind nervous that the out-of-date graphics will kill any other title for me now.

^^ if you're looking for a GTA type game, may I recommend Sleeping Dogs? Great gameplay, story, tons of collectibles and there is definitely going to be a sequel.

Yeah, been there done that with sleeping dogs loved it at first but it just got so old - a bit too much of a GTA clone.

I'm still loving farcry 3 as well but looking for another GTA fix.

My favorite sand-box game this generation has to be Just Cause 2. So much to do, all of it fun!

Saint's Row 2 is the best sandbox game this generation.

Re: Grand Theft Auto 5 to a V

I've been playing Saint's Row the Third recently (late to the party) and I hope that Rockstar takes a note from that game and brings back the "fun" to this series. I liked GTAIV, but it was sorely lacking in balls-to-the-wall crazy missions, and the sluggish driving engine made getting around town a chore instead of fun.
