Official Ratchet & Clank : All 4 One Thread

Well, with E3 just a day away, I figured it was time to start a thread on the next R&C game. This one is largely focused on four-player co-op play. I'll copy & paste some E3 reports when they get published. Not sure I'm wild about PS3 co-op games, but I've liked or loved every R&C so far, so I'll be getting this one as well.

Day one purchase for me. I love this series. But I will be the first to admit that the formula is getting a bit stale. I'm really glad to see at least some level of gameplay innovation.

That is so not what I want from a R&C game.
If that's what they want to focus on they should just make a new IP.

I know what you're saying. I'm a little resistant to this particular change as well. Though if it's fun with random people in co-op mode the way Red Dead Redemption was (and pretty much nothing else is, as far as I can tell), it might be worth it. Besides, I hope they learned a lesson from Ratchet : Deadlocked that people don't want a multiplayer-focused R&C game (and that they desperately need Clank front and center as well).

Interesting that no one mentioned this in the Perfect Gamers Storm thread.

I love R&C. It's the first game I ordered when I bought a PS3. But I have almost zero interest in this game.

I don't want co-op or Move games. Just give me some good, old R&C.

I wish I could find a good picture of the finished Comic Con item, but MAN this arcade cabinet is cool. I wish I could have played on that.

Ditto. Tools of Destruction was my first PS3 game as well, and I downloaded Quest for Booty and shelled out for A Crack in Time on day one too. I have no interest in multiplayer, though, so I think I'll have to sit this one out.

I'm cool with the multiplayer aspect simply because both my gf and I love the R&C series. She plays each game first and I typically watch her play. And then I play (although she doesn't watch me!) This way we can both play together.

Visit again, watch the trailer and get a new set of avatars, home items and another similar Static Theme.

And if they get 30K registrants, we'll get a Dynamic Theme (which is what I really want).

It’s a terrific four-player co-op adventure, and we’re really excited to have it in your hands next month. A frequent question we’ve been getting is “how is it when you play alone?” While bringing co-op to Ratchet & Clank has been by far our number one request for the franchise, we know many of you love to sit down and play Ratchet & Clank and enjoy the fantastic worlds, inventive weapons and hilarious storylines on your own time.

I’m here today to talk a little bit more about the single-player experience. Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One is built from the ground-up to be a co-op game, and many of the mechanics are very co-op based. So quickly realized we needed to give you a computer-controller partner to keep the gameplay balanced. In that regard, if you play All 4 One alone as Ratchet, Qwark or Nefarious, you’ll be teamed up with an AI bot playing as Clank. As you traverse the levels, Clank will ride on your back, just like always. When you reach enemies or a section that requires teamwork, Clank will jump off your back and help you out. What if you play as Clank? We’ve got a special surprise in store for you.

I've sure had fun sitting in online lobbies before I consistently get kicked. Yippie.

Maybe with some more Beta players, perhaps I could try the gameplay at least once.

Create your own game!

I was trying to join others and had problems and got booted and all that, and then I decided to create my own game. That's the way to do it. Then you can decide if you let other people join or not. (Theoretically, you don't have to let others join and you can play by yourself.)

I had a blast playing the game. My actual hangup was the other people I was playing with. We had different styles. I like exploring, hitting everything, others seem to want to go as fast as possible. But I've only played one of the two levels.

That's the easiest beta test I've ever gotten. Usually you have to register and sign-up for all kinds of stupid newsletters and stuff. Then maybe they'll email you a code at a later date. But this was just click-boom here's your code.

A Dual Shock 3? Yes, that's how it's played. I ended up playing some solo yesterday and liked it, in a more-of-the-same sort-of way. I'd love to see how using multiplayer changes things up. Racing each other for any available bolts should be fun.
