Where Have All The 360 Co-Op Shooters Gone? (Long time passing/Long time ago)
One of my favorite things about this generation of games has been the co-op online shooter. My BFF in HI and I will buy the same game so we can play a campaign together online. We haven't found a single one to get since Halo Reach some six months ago -- not that we haven't found a good one we both like; we haven't found a single one. CoD Black Ops has the Zombie mode, but we find that pretty unsatisfying. Gears 3 is still a long way off. Both Bulletstorm and Homefront seem tailor-made for this mode, but both didn't include it. It seems like there's nothing on the horizon for us. Killzone 3 has that mode, and that game is a huge seller. The two biggest 360 exclusive franchises (Halo & Gears) include it as well. Wonder why more FPS games aren't including a co-op mode.
We've been playing Borderlands continuously for 17 months now -- how long must we wait?

I don't know how accurate their information is, but here is a list:
Clickapotamus
There's only a few shooters listed for 2011 that have campaign coop. You could always pick up older titles and run through them.

The one multiplatform game I wanted to buy on the PS3 for their exclusives. Figures. Will have to think a while over that one.
Thanks for that list. Might have to look into Brink.
Been there, done that.

At this point, besides sports games, the resurgent fighting games, and maybe some social games, I see little reason to buy a second controller for the 360 or PS3, let alone the three or four I used to buy for older systems (like the Gamecube). There just aren't that many split screen co-op games period, not just shooters.

I feel your pain decker...I am in the same boat...
The next game my friends all plan on getting is going to be Operation Flashpoint Red River...That has up to 4 player coop for the campaign, along with a lot of coop modes like Rainbow Six or GRAW...it comes out next month...
Brink as you said is right around the corner...
Then after that I am afraid we have to wait till Gears 3....

I think this year will be a tad better than last and yea or just a short time we had some good ones to choose. I love the coop part be it 2 or 4 player and the list for this year looks good...
Dead Island - a Left 4 Dead cousin
Brink - did know this has it...lots of character customs but story?
The three Big Ones I'm watching and will get...
Gears of War 3, Rage and Battlefield 3

How was the co-op mode in Dead Rising 2? Was it a real co-op campaign option or just a "come over and mess around in my world" type of thing?

I have it on the PS3 but I'm guessing is the same but it depends of who you play with. You have a task at hand but what I found is that when you get some random players joining you, they only want to mess around and kill the zombies without caring about the objective at hand. It'll probably work better with somebody you know.

Re: Where Have All The 360 Co-Op Shooters Gone?
Anybody with some suggestions for older titles w/co-op (for 360)? Not even necessarily shooters...been playing Borderlands for a couple months, and I enjoy it, but I'd like to try some games where you don't have to worry about leveling up (we've also done Battlefield and CoD online, but we'd prefer games where we don't have to put up with annoying other online players).
We tried Left 4 Dead, and it wasn't really our thing.

Army of Two (original and 40th Day)
50 Cent (don't laugh, it's seriously a blast)
CoD: World @ War (has coop thru the campaign)
Halo 3, ODST, Reach (all have campaign coop)
Kane and Lynch (original and Dog Days)
Lost Planet 2
Marvel Ultimate Alliance 1 and 2
Resident Evil 5
Tom Clancy's HAWX, HAWX 2
Tom Clancy's Rainbow 6 Vegas 2 (1st one does not have campaign coop)
Too Human
Transformers: War for Cybertron
Probably missed some, but those are the ones I recall.

I prefer co-op campaigns, but spec ops was fun.

Well, three months later and I'm still left playing Borderlands. Brink turned out to be a total bust as far as 2-player co-op goes. Red Faction Armageddon looks to just have a horde mode. I still don't see anything ineresting on the horizon until Gears 3.
How was Bulletstorm's co-op? I see that one will be $30 at Kmart in a week or two and if it's fun insight want to check it out. Anyone play the Transformer game in co-op mode? Is that much fun in two player mode?

Transformers: War for Cybertron....is a great coop game...if you have not played it yet, you will be very happy with your purchase..
Bulletstorm's coop stuff is fun for one afternoon of coop, but that is it.
This Tuesday Operation Flashpoint Red River comes out. I know a lot of reviews have been from 6-8, but I have played and finished it over a month ago. (import) It is up to 4 players coop campaign, and has smaller spec op like missions. After the first 3 chapters the game is amazing. All the complaints about the game disappear once you start playing with a human friend. The graphics are dated, but who cares. It is the most fun we have had in coop in a long time.

I love co-op play and for now "Brink" has to do when I get on and can find a match with a few "human" players. it's not the best but new DLC coming so who knows.
I wanted Red Faction but the reviews so-so and a co-op horde mode at best.
Coming down the pike as mention Red River and i hope the reviews get better. It's been awhile for a war game with 4-player campaign coop.
Fear 3 is "suppose" to come out but who knows. there hasn't been any updated trailers or footage since June last year.
Call of Juarez: The Cartel looks interesting to me with 3-player coop. A modern day Red Dead with a touch of GTA. Doesn't look to bad at all with all the various settings....June
Earth Defense Force...it's Giant Bug mania with up to 6-player coop. Seeing the lastest trailer it's arcade shoot'em up with a slight look of Crackdown 2. One good thing...$39 and not $59.
LOTR: War in the North...3-player coop. Haven't played any LOTR games in awhile but footage down't look bad and what's better than hacking goblins.
Other than that it looks like come September things get rolling.
