As long as you're following one of us, you should be golden.
If you're on my squad, I'll make a point to tell you where I'm going, why and how.

Re: Battlefield Talk (PS3)
I was just looking through all the old posts in the weekly rotating game nights thread and noticed that Vong and Spatula were BFBC2 "noobs" not too long ago.
Now they're 1 and 2 in the rankings. Impressive work!

I think I was there for both of their first nights...or at least very early on...showing them the ropes. Fun times.

Re: Battlefield Talk (PS3)
Sony finally got back to me and couldn't answer my question via email so they told me to call them about it so I'll do that next week.
Was at the parents' with Octo earlier today playing with his new copy of Skyrim a bit. Interesting and beautiful but I don't think it's my kind of game.
We're chatting Burnout because I asked for advice in this thread. It was either here or Warhawk.
Exactly. Remember, we started this thread when I suggested the Warhawk thread was turning into a BFBC2 thread and maybe it was time to branch off.
Thanks! I really, really got into playing BFBC2 online with these guys and put in quite a few hours. I've never experienced online gaming before and I've been impressed by the sense of community and the "life chatter" that happens in-between bragging about nabbing dogtags. Hell, I've even preached about it as an example of genuine, honest community and how my preconceived stereotypes of online gaming / gamers were shattered and what that means about being open to learning about other people. Without the community, I doubt I would be into the game all that much.
Yes, you were. Your advice after I died ten times, one right after another, running Assault was to give Medic a try and I went with Medic for the next two months because I dug it so much.
Then I switched to Engineer and met my Uncle Carl. Nabbing dogtags is cool. Getting over 2400 kills with the Carl Gustav is beautiful.

Yep. Frizby was my guide and mentor for my intro into the FPS BFBC2 world. So yeah he gets the blame when my wife bitches at me for being on the Ps3 all the time. LMAO!

Re: Battlefield Talk (PS3)
I have a feeling I would have been up there as well if not for my 7 month vacation to Afghanistan.
Apologies to your wife Vong. My favorite early moment with Vong and Spatula was Spatula's initial reaction to BFBC2:
"Is every game like this, where everything is destructible????"
"No game is like this." [I might have mentioned Red Faction as the closest comparison]
Good times last night...just a short time with Shumway, but we had a good time for sure. I had a couple of classic medic moments where I'd be following Shum and getting his back...he'd get killed by some dude but would wear him down...I'd finish the dude off and revive Shum...and we'd be rolling again.
Then later, Sean (inlinesean) jumped on and we played for a good bit until the server wore down to 6 on 3, and we were on the wrong end of that.
Got 3-4 more ace pins.

Re: Battlefield Talk (PS3)
There's a team of guys working on my Burnout issue. They're pretty stumped, so far. I'm stuck in a limbo where I can't delete it because it didn't download in the first place and the PSN store won't let me download it.
Tried BFBC1 and it's okay. Different enough that I ended up frustrated for my thirty minutes of play (more like Battlefield 1943, of the BF games I've tried) but I'll give it another shot this week.

Re: Battlefield Talk (PS3)
Update: they can't fix my Burnout download so they're going to issue me a refund which should let me repurchase and download it (I was told 3-5 business days). Thing is, I got it during the July PSN Plus sale when I was a Plus member for free during that Loyalty Program deal after the security breach. That means I'll get my purchase price refund of $7.99 but if I want to get the game it's $19.99 now. That's frustrating. Yeah, I should have dealt with this a while ago, yet something tells me I'd be in the same boat no matter the timing. I will prooobably still buy the game but I'm not as excited now that it's not a bargain, to be honest.

You would think they would remove it from your account and give you a voucher for the download of the game.

Re: Battlefield Talk (PS3)
Found a local guy who has Burnout Paradise used for $10 on Craigslist. I already downloaded all the other DLC packs like car unlocks on my PS3 without any problem this summer. Any advantage / disadvantage to picking up this used copy rather than attempting the whole download thing again? My whole refund deal is still pending.
To keep this post relevant to BF, I haven't touched BF3 since December 11 and instead I've been playing BFBC2 which is seeing more and more people in it, these days, so matches are at least 8-8 or more. So many dogtags.

Seems like it has been a good mix. Now MW3 I'm going with n00b city based on watching origami play a couple of rounds.
