Re: Battlefield Talk (PS3)

When I signed out a moment ago, it was awesome to see eight of my PSN friends in BFBC2 tonight!

Excellent times with excom101 / ogsoley, KTown was back!, and Dogowar's buddy, Monkey. Those Gold Squad pins were well earned, gentlemen.

Re: Battlefield Talk (PS3)

I have a feeling a lot is going to happen at about the same time, insignia-wise and star-wise:

- 17 knife kills left for Platinum Star
- 5 double kills left for Elite Multiple Target
- 37 headshot left for Elit Marksman Combat
- 35 vehicle damages left for Anti Vehicle Combat
- 21 hours left for Elite Service Duty

Just got Gold Star #7 with the Carl Gustav and I love, love, love sniping with it.

Was in with DieCast and KTown (plus a guy I met a few nights ago, ZeeRow) and we played some great Rush. Beat out a guy on the other team for Ace Pin by two points! I messaged him and said, "2 points, sorry!" and he messaged back to say it's all good, that's the way the game goes and that it was a good game. Better than the guy who called me a **** on a message the other day.

Love that dogmatica is having so much fun with BC2...and that Vong is now a complete whore for it.

I miss this game...hope BF3 hits the same notes, but I fear the environments will be a bit more limited.

Too bad you're not playing with us, chess. You're missing me asking everybody about baby registry while trying to lob grenades at rush attackers. It's a fascinating juxtaposition.

Re: Battlefield Talk (PS3)

That is probably my favorite map. Running across that expanse in the middle with so many elevated positions around you just feels epic, and I love all the sneaky nooks. And there are always opportunities to stab snipers in the grape whether it's from the rooftops on either side or on the ship in the middle.

Stumbled upon a BFBC2 forum / blog / editorial website called DRMB or "Don't Revive Me, Bro!" One of their members made these war propaganda posters that are pretty good:

All are spoilerized for size:
Spoiler:

Re: Battlefield Talk (PS3)

I had an excellent final two rounds of the night playing with ogsoley / excom101. Nabbed my first platinum star and it's with the combat knife during the second-to-last round and that felt amazing. Then, in the next round, I got a well-earned Ace Pin from rockin' the Carl Gustav into three loaded CAVs zipping into Bravo at Harvest Day. I always mark the flags for squad defensive orders and racked up over 300 points per CAV with double and triple kills, flag defense orders, avenger kills, savior kills, etc. They got so pissed at me! They started running into Bravo on foot trying to snipe me... only to have me take a couple of their dogtags. After taking out the first three CAVs at Bravo, they left us alone and drove it into Alpha... which I sniped with the Carl Gustav from Bravo for a fourth loaded CAV kill. Earned my third-ever Nemesis Pin with that one, too. Those are hard for me to earn so that was a fun surprise (just gotta find a way to nab two more for the elusive Distinguished Retaliation Combat insignia). ogsoley was a tremendous help, too, spotting vehicles and enemies and laying ammo for me; thanks for helping me earn that Ace Pin, og. Just beautiful. It's entirely possible, too, the Carl Gustav will end up as my second Platinum Star. I've got 382/500 kills with it already...

Re: Battlefield Talk (PS3)

Chess: The PSN "Welcome Back" program is now live. The store, however, is experiencing a lot of errors because of the volume of people attempting to download their free games. I'll write up a walkthrough for you when things die down a bit. (I imagine there would be nothing more frustrating than trying to follow a walktrough and getting constant errors.)

We have until July 3 to download the free content, so there's no big rush.

Re: Battlefield Talk (PS3)

Ok. She should probably wait a few days before doing this because the errors complicate things considerably, but:

1) Sign into the PSN Store
2) Select "Welcome Back," which is the first option in the menu on the left.
3) Select "Welcome Back: Free PS3 Game 1"
4) Select "Welcome Back: Free PS3 Game 1" again
5) Select "Get Now"
6) Once that's done, press the circle button to go back to the "Welcome Back" Game 1 selections...
7) Select the first game you want to download.
8) Select "Download" the two or three times it makes you select "Download"
Lather, rinse, repeat, replacing "Game 1" with "Game 2"

If there are errors (after step 5) or if you back out too far before selecting your free game, you have to go to the ps3 menu and go into the following submenus to select your game:

[playstation network]-->[account management]-->[transaction management]-->[services list]-->[SCEA Promotions]

Picked it up for $6.99 at BBV tonight. Had some credit at Amazon so I bought the DLC Booster pack w/ all 3 map sets for $15.99 as well. I'm installed and ready to go for next Tuesday.

Re: Battlefield Talk (PS3)

i played my first games tonight...randoms dont talk.

at first it was hard to get used to not just pilling the trigger and holding it until i kill someone, bursts are much more accurate.
I think i did okay, Im still level 1 after like 2 hours of playing, but there was no organization, I never grouped with more than 2 people.
It was really satisfying to blow up a troop carrier/truck with three people in it after it went past me and i ducked behind a wall.
I also absolutely love how everything can be destroyed.

The guns vary a bit in this respect, but yeah, they have some "weight" to them.

Once you get the spotting and working objectives and you play with a few people you know, you'll get the team aspect of it.
