Re: Official PS Vita / PlayStation TV Thread
This started last year. Shortly after the Borderlands 2 bundle came out, the Vita became next to impossible to find in stock anywhere in the US. Stores sold through the stock they had, but it didn't seem like anybody was getting new ones in. I grabbed one at Best Buy during this time as I thought maybe I'd have trouble actually finding one later.
And if stores don't have the hardware, there's no real reason to carry the software. Hell, most Vita games aren't released in physical form as it is. MLB 15 is download only for example. I've bought one physical game (Tearaway), though that's mostly because I have so many free games through plus that I don't actually need to buy games (I've bought 0 digital games).
I'd say the fact that services and programs are being phased out and completely killed off is a bigger sign that the Vita is in trouble. The YouTube app being killed off, all the location data being eliminated along with the Maps app. And it doesn't seem like there's any new apps coming.

I don't know if the Vita is in trouble or not. However, take a gander at this list a Neogaf member has created. He/she compiled a list of all known upcoming Vita games. Obviously, some may not get released but it is a fairly impressive list none-the-less.

Re: Official PS Vita / PlayStation TV Thread
Oh, the Vita's found its niche for sure. It's just that it's essentially a JRPG and digital-only indie machine at this point. Boxed software at retail is basically non-existent. Sony has given away pretty much every one of their noteworthy releases via PS+. AAA releases disappeared quickly and are never coming back. The Vita was a commercial disaster at what it was intended to be -- bringing console-quality gaming to a handheld -- but it's deservedly earned its fanatical following, and I've read that a bunch of indie developers have seen better sellthrough rates on it than any other platform. That OLED display is a wonder to behold, and so many of its games are achingly gorgeous, especially Tearaway and Killzone: Mercenaries. If I traveled more, I'd probably never put it down.

Target is clearancing out their Vita games. I went by a couple stores and currently everything looks to be 50% off. Best Buy only carries a handful now, so this might be a good opportunity to grab a few at a decent price.

And now 70% off. I picked up Tearaway for $12 and Assassin's Creed III: Liberation for $9.

Sony has no titles in the pipeline for PlayStation Vita
I guess it's an indie game device going forward. Hopefully they keep up with the free games on PS+.

Bloodstained isn't due for another couple of years, right? It might be the last Vita game - or at least the last physical release.

I got it to work fairly well when I used a wifi extender and wired the TV to it. Slight input lag but most games were playable.

Back in the Vita game. Scored a slim with 32gb card and 2 cases for $130. Anything good coming down the line?

Some Vita game news :
Skullgirls 2nd Encore Roars Onto PS Vita April 5
Posted by Peter Bartholow on Apr 01, 2016 // CEO, Lab Zero Games
Two years ago on April Fool’s, we revealed Fukua, the joke character who actually turned out not to be a joke at all.
Today we have another equally real announcement: Skullgirls 2nd Encore is finally coming to the PS Vita on April 5!
We previously expected this to launch last summer, for which we apologize — Skullgirls features a huge amount of hand-drawn animation (averaging around 1,500 frames per character), so balancing performance and image quality on the handheld proved trickier than expected. And just when we thought we were close, we had to change gears to focus on deadlines for Arc System Works’ release in Japan.
Anyway, we’ve put a lot of effort into the PS Vita version of Skullgirls 2nd Encore, and we hope you’ll find the wait was worth it!
In addition to making sure the basic controls and gameplay are responsive, we’ve also added front-screen macros. Tapping these sectors on the front screen will activate a customizable macro, letting you call an assist, switch characters, or whatever else you can think of.
For those who haven’t been keeping up, 2nd Encore is the ultimate edition of Skullgirls, containing:
And, as we noted above, Skullgirls 2nd Encore on PS Vita is one of a handful of games to support local multiplayer on PSTV. Just sync a second DualShock 3 or 4 controller and you’ll be able to play with a friend next to you, just like the PS3 or PS4 versions!
On top of that, Skullgirls 2nd Encore is cross buy — buying the PS Vita version will get you the PS4 release, and vice versa. If you already own the PS4 version, you’re already taken care of — just log into the PS Vita store after Tuesday’s update and download away! Couldn’t be easier

Severed Launching April 26 on PS Vita
Posted by Graham Smith on Apr 11, 2016 // COO, DrinkBox Studios
Hi everyone! This is Graham from Drinkbox Studios, creators of About a Blob, Mutant Blobs Attack, and Guacamelee!
We’ve been hard at work on Severed for the past two years and we’re excited to announce that the game will launch for PS Vita on April 26 for $14.99. PlayStation Plus subscribers can also expect a 10% discount during the launch week.
The Long Road…
If you haven’t heard of Severed before, here’s a quick run-down: Severed is a first-person dungeon crawling adventure where you equip the carcasses of your enemies to gain their powers. You play as Sasha, a warrior who wakes up in a surreal fantasy world and sets off on a mission to find the missing members of her family.
Severed was initially planned as a Spring 2015 release, but after showing an early demo of the game at PlayStation Experience in December 2014 we were inspired with a ton of new ideas and decided there was a lot more we wanted to add. It only took a whole extra year, but we’ve finally finished packing in as much as we could into Severed and we’re really happy with how it has turned out.
Original Soundtrack Available Now
While Severed is still a few weeks away from release, the Original Soundtrack for the game is available for streaming and download today right here. Composed by the Juno nominated band Yamantaka // Sonic Titan and special guests Pantayo, the intense progressive rock music in Severed’s OST gives a good sense of the unique atmosphere you can expect to find in Sasha’s adventure.
We’re huge fans of PS Vita and we’re excited to finally get it into the hands of PS Vita owners. Hope you all love the game as much as we enjoyed making it!

Is this the first month that there are no Vita games for 'free' via PS+?

Re: Official PS Vita / PlayStation TV Thread
I swear that when I posted that, there weren't any Vita games up at the PS+ landing page, although I do see them now, and I was able to get Level 22 earlier by searching directly. Good to see that Sony hasn't completely forgotten the Vita!

I only played Downwell on PS4 but it's a fun little game especially if you're looking to kill 15 minutes or so.

Re: Official PS Vita / PlayStation TV Thread
I've been thinking about getting a PlayStation TV to remote play PS4 games in the other room. Anyone have success? How are the apps like Netflix? I don't have a Vita but have picked up PS+ free games along the way. Amazon has it for $72 right now, is that too much for what you get?
