Re: Tomb Raider (a.k.a. Tomb Raider 9)
I have the PS3 version and I am not very far into the game. I just got a PS4 and bought the Definitive Edition. However, I'm wondering if I should just continue the PS3 and return the PS3 version. Is the graphical update worth it?
Thanks

Less shooting, more actual raiding of tombs would've made this great game even better. But I imagine that it's far more difficult constructing worthwhile tombs rather than just padding the game by throwing fodder at the player to mow down with guns.

Not a huge difference, both versions are really good. I'd trade in the PS3 version if you have a choice. The graphics are better on the next gen versions.

it is not just the graphics, but the feel of the game. At 60 fps the game just controls so much better, and your character feels more solid in the environment.

Re: Tomb Raider (a.k.a. Tomb Raider 9)
Help.
I think I found a glitch. I fast traveled back to Base Exterior to get the collectibles, and after leaving the main building, there was no way to get back in. The main doors are supposed to be opened after you fight a guy with a shield, but if there are no enemies at the location, there's no way to get back in the building. I tried reloading the checkpoint and restarting the game but it just puts me back in the same empty location.
There was a point where I went back to the bridge and the guy who tries to throw you off reappeared. After that there were three of four guys as I went back toward the main building. But no one came out of the building, so I think I'm stuck.
Is there some other way to get in the building? Is there a way to fast travel without being at a camp?
Playing on the 360, non-definitive ed.

I just went back to that area on the PS4 and the doors stayed open. My recollection of my original play on 360 is that it was the same.
The only way out, that I know of, is through those doors.

I bought this game a while back and only started playing it this week. Almost completed it and i have to say this has been fun as hell. I liked the original Tomb Raider games (first few anyway), but went off them after a while as they got to be tedious. This game is so much more fun to play. I am really enjoying the hell out of it. I will be onboard for the next game if they keep it like this.
BTW: I saw a trailer for the new LoTR game on TV last night and it sure as hell looks like they have ripped off Tomb Raider in it. Actually, looks like a cross between the last Tomb Raider, Assassins Creed and Infamous. Which might be good.....

Re: Tomb Raider (a.k.a. Tomb Raider 9)
I finished the game on Xbox 360. I saw previews of game in Xbox One and thought graphic upgrade is worth it, so been looking out for a sale on this game. I was at Target last week and one game was in the clearance section, for $10.06! Jackpot! Bought it, and have restarted the game again. Definitely go with the XB1 version, graphics are great! Gameplay is still awesome. My favorite game of the year so far.

I am sure you guys have heard or seen it. Its Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor. They seem to be advertising it a lot recently on TV.
By the way, i completed the game and have been going back to collect the things i missed. Is it just me or do they make this impossible? It seems that certain points the route is blocked so there is no way to progress and collect missing items. Seems really weird and its making me quickly stop re-playing levels. I am around 91% completion, so might have to leave it at that.

There isn't a single area that is blocked off after you finish the game. I got 100% on both the 360 and PS4. The 360 I went for 100% before finishing. On the PS4, I finished with around 85% and went back for the rest.
The only thing I recall having an issue with is that there is a mine in the beach waters that can't be seen at night. Gotta find it during the day.

Well mate i am playing it on the PS3 and i have gone back over a few levels now that come to a dead end. I have already completed the game so its not like i don't know which way to go, and i check the map and i see i am going on the right path each time, but hit a wall that stops me from going any further. Oh well, on to other games now i guess.

There are a couple areas you can't backtrack to but you can fast travel to a previous camp and get to an area that way. What area are you referring to?

Re: Tomb Raider (a.k.a. Tomb Raider 9)
Well i will have to go back into the game, but one i recall was the level where the truck is blocking the bridge. Impossible to go around, and i am positive i went to another camp on the other side and was blocked from getting a couple of items there as well. I will put it on tonight briefly and re-check.

Bumping ambiguously-titled threads from a million years ago around the same time a different, but similarly-ambiguously-titled game goes free on 360 can make things really confusing.

If somebody told me in 2005 that Tomb Raider would be one of the best games of the generation, I would have called bullshit in a heartbeat

I'm not sure you need to use spoiler tags at this point. Anyone who is interested in this game has probably played it by now, and if not...well, they should be playing it instead of reading forum discussions about it.

10/10 [completed it on the 360] so the ONE version must be a 12/10
This game is fucking amazing! Love everything about it, no complaints at all from me; just fun all around, never a part of frustration . One of the best games I've ever played
Everytime Lara screamed and yelled for some reason it made me , something about Camilla Luddington's voice.
Was thinking about replaying it on THE ONE asap but I think I'll wait to replay it before RISE comes out. PLEASE MS DON'T DELAY IT!
Never thought I would be anticipating a TOMB RAIDER game!

Re: Tomb Raider (a.k.a. Tomb Raider 9)
Yeah, the main concern I have with Tomb Raider 2 being a One exclusive is how much better Tomb Raider Definitive is on the PS4 over the Xbox One, but I'm sure it'll be solid regardless since it's lead platform and done by the head team (and not some third party as in this case).
I really hope that one doesn't get delayed, it's the only other game I'm looking forward to that's left for this year (Damn you delays, asshole companies, "Release it when it's ready" my arse.) I don't expect to like it as much as this one since there are now expectations in play, but man I hope it comes close.
Alas a year with Bloodborne and another good Tomb Raider is still leagues better than most years.
