Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim -- November 2011

So, I finally started playing this on the 360 the other day. Was having a blast after not playing any game for quite a while. Today I went to boot it up and it told me the DLC was gone, so I reinstalled it from the disc, when I went back my save files were all corrupted and I can't figure out how to recover them. I was "only" at level 11, but for me that's a pretty huge commitment for me.

Update on Skywind. Looks like it's coming along nicely

So with the game coming out next month, it looks like Best Buy is getting a special edition that includes a steelbook and a real life Dovahkiin Mask (whatever that is)

Spoiler:

Fuuuuck...

Guess I'm buying this and sinking another 100+ hours into it.

I have to admit, I put it on my Christmas list even after I told myself I wouldn't. *sigh*, darn you Skyrim.

Looks amazing but the game is still too fresh for me to put in another 100+ hours so soon. Now, if they had remade Morrowind the same way, I would take time off from work.

That ad said "Play Mods on Consoles". Does that mean they breached their previous impasse and are now allowing mods on the PS4 version as well?

I read an article about this ... I don't have a link, but the jist of it is is, they are allowing mods to work on PS4 now, but NO mods that have any external art or sound assets.

And I still have a hard time believing they are expecting people to pay $60 for this. I already bought this for $5 on my PC a year or 2 ago. Yeah, maybe this one is higher res, but whatevs. Maybe when it hits $19.99.

Somewhat. They were talking about it on one of the podcasts. The XB1 will still support all mods, but the PS4 I think mods are only limited to items you can find and construct in game.

I'm still pretty confused. Is the bottom line that the mods will be better and more complete on the XO version than the PS4 version?

I read somewhere that if you have the PC version that includes all the DLC (I think it's called the Legendary edition), then the Special Edition is free.

Just to be clear, Free for PC ONLY.

It just updates graphics, really nothing new. I've had updated graphics for a long time. I just read that on PC the SE appears as a separate game to the vanilla edition. That's kinda cool. If true I will absolutely check it out.

yes. So, like in Fallout 4, you can have mods that give you light sabers, turn people into storm troopers, and all sorts of copyrighted characters. PS didn't want to deal with ANY of that. So the only mods that are available on PS4 will be ones that use assets that are already shipped with the product.

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim -- November 2011

Skyrim is one of my top 10 games of all time and i played through it twice, clocking in more than 200 hours each time. I am more than happy to go back a third time and another 200+ hours. Looks fantastic.

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim -- November 2011

I bought the game and season pass for the 360, but never played it...I kinda want to just write that off as a loss and get the remastered GOTY edition for the One, probably when it's $30 on Black Friday.

Join the club...actually crazier than that? I didn't finish the main questline. I did the Civil War line and everything humanly possible around the Thieves Guild and played with my houses more than I care to admit...pump in easily in excess of 120 hours, but barely touched the main quest. That's why I wanted it BC so bad, and was really upset when they wouldn't even let me transfer over my character. Love the game, but I think it was primarily because I could play it the way I want to (basically screw around, get loot, and do the quests I wanted to).

To be honest, I'll probably get the remastered game and just play with mods the entire time.

I'm sooo pissed because about two weeks ago I bought this and my husband has put in 53 hours into it I haven't been able to play it because of time constraints.

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim -- November 2011

I'll probably scoop this up on sale, I didn't really like the game initially after 10 hours or so (frankly the only one I kind of enjoyed was Oblivion since it had a Diablo vibe), but with all the repeated acclaim I feel like I need to give it another chance. Alas, I know I'll buy it and fall asleep playing it again and again.

Oh... no mods yet?

http://www.nexusmods.com/games/?

There are nearly 50 Thousand mods for Skyrim. Some are DLC sized and provide much more gameplay, or change the play completely.

If that sounds interesting, there is a guy called Gopher who does some good youtube guides...

No yeah I know about mods but we just got the main game and 3 expansion packs I can't remember the name but there's a really expansive one with voice actors and everything. But gonna go through this one first, save file, go on to that one.

Anyone who owns Skyrim plus all DLC on steam gets it free according to a statement on steam. Legendary edition includes all DLC that qualifies. Nice deal. I'm a bit eager to see how it looks.

Re: Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim -- November 2011

I have been giving this game a lot of thought and i am certainly picking it up day 1. However i am hoping that with the modding there will be cheat modes available. Having played through the game twice to probably very close to 100% completion each time, i am willing to play it a third time through, but would probably prefer a faster way where i can just have fun with it instead of playing it seriously and everything taking much longer. I am hoping the modding has something along these lines. Putting in another 200+ hours would be asking a lot i think with so many other releases around the corner and life in general.

I would buy this on PS4 if they put PlayStation VR support in. I'm sure it'll eventually happen.
