RDR is DEFINITELY Rockstar's new lead title (Sorry GTA) well, to those of us who can clearly see it's the superior game.
I'm hoping it's a new storyline altogether of course but with the same fleshed out characters...with the exception of some of the voice acting (Marston and his son....kinda shitty). It was such an unexpected surprise as well.
Both RDR and Max Payne 3 (with MP3 taking the lead) had interesting multi-player modes...I was shocked to see that Rockstar completely abandoned all the multi-player elements from MP3 when GTA V came out. All we got with GTA V was a "Not even fully developed" turd when it came to multi-player - I really hope they bring the MP3 MP formula to future titles.

Still can't let it go about your dislike for GTA V, huh? Given the massive sales of the title, RDR is obviously not the lead title for Rockstar no matter what you want to believe and tell yourself.
I've been meaning to give RDR another try, and one of the few 360 titles I specifically held on to and didn't get rid of. It didn't jive with me when I tried it before, and felt kind of boring. Especially the travelling. Maybe I just wasn't up for that sort of game at the time.

I'd love if this game becomes backwards compatible with the current gen systems eventually. A sequel would be great too but who knows if it'll happen as its been quite a while since the first game.

i wanted to revive this to ask 2 questions:
1. any talk or anything about a sequel for current gen consoles?
2. any talk or anything about a Definitive edition of the original for current gen consoles?
i would love to revisit this with all the DLC for the One, as well as, have a successor, even spiritual, with another story in the western genre. very underappreciated imo.

Someone superimposed the map to the first game. Looks like it moves us north. I can't wait as Redemption may be my favorite game ever.

Man, I would love if Rockstar announced this game was coming out soonish the way Fallout 4 was announced.
If this is more like a fall of 2017 game, I would really like to go back and play the first game again. Might as well fire up the old 360 for one more ride.

I'm a massive Rockstar fan and after years of all the positive buzz I finally got around to playing it. The whole game left me underwhelmed. Story was boring and combat was more repetitive than even the worse GTA game. With that said I'd be willing to give the sequel a shot.

Decided to pop this into the 360 since I still have it set up. The game still holds up pretty well in my opinion.

I wouldn't be surprised if they don't give much attention to the single player story this time out...they're trying to do their own thing in the online world (meaning they're not trying to copy the destiny formula) and it is working largely to an extent but well, hey if it's your thing.
Definitely NOT getting excited about this - I just hope it's awesome when it comes out.
EDIT - HA Fumanstan - I let my hate die out for GTA V - it is tough though as they promised single player DLC (even mentioned it in their own newswire) but then just went silent - BUT, I have heard rumors of many people emailing the 'mouth-off' section on the site asking rockstar to give official word that it's cancelled but not one person every received a reply....hmmmm, ya never know!!

I loved Redemption, what a blast. I can't get into the GTA games anymore, so I don't know what Rival is referencing. Hopefully any sequel/prequel remains true to what Redemption did.

I was referencing GTA online...I think it's horrid but there are a lot of people who love it.

'Red Dead Redemption 2' release date: Sequel almost confirmed for E3 2016, remastered version coming too
Developer Rockstar will be one of the gaming companies to attend the highly-anticipated Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2016, where it is rumored to announce "Red Dead Redemption 2."
The "Grand Theft Auto" developer hasn't said a word about the rumored sequel even though leaks about it have been popping up, far more frequently in the past few days as the convention nears.
A Reddit user came across a screenshot believed to be from "Red Dead Redemption 2." The image came from a profile of a former Rockstar employee and featured a house that other Reddit users claim is nothing like the one on the original, promptly making them think it has to be from the sequel.
Another Reddit user claims that Rockstar's website was updated to prepare for the big reveal of "Red Dead Redemption 2." Interestingly, as the tipster scoured through the coding, he realized that the structure of the website also makes room for another "Red Dead Redemption" game.
This fuelled rumors that Rockstar has also prepared a remastered version of the previous installment of beloved open world, western action-adventure to be playable on the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One although another user has pointed out that this is not the case as far as how the information was obtained and understood.
"Red Dead Redemption" was available on the Xbox One Backward Compatibility site for a while but was quickly removed. It may be because Rockstar has a bigger plan for the title if this report is any indication.
"Red Dead Redemption" was released back in 2010 to critical claim. The title even won the award for the VGX Game of the Year. Fans have been waiting ever since for a sequel, but Rockstar was silent all throughout.
However, Rockstar's parent company Take-Two Interactive has already said that "Red Dead Redemption" is a "permanent" franchise like "GTA" so fans will be seeing more of it in the coming years.
A leaked map said to be from "Red Dead Redemption 2," Tall Trees and Great Plains will be featured again, which means that players will be back in Blackwater.
"Red Dead Redemption 2" is expected to be announced on E3 scheduled June 14 to 16 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
