I only hope that when I get to the game this weekend (or whenever) that the actual game merits the beautiful exterior.
I think I will use the coin just for fun, even though I always like to be the evil character.

My wife is always the good character. She'll be glowing, and my guy will be decaying, scarred, and scaring the shit out of everyone

Here's the thing : If you're evil, what's your conflict with your brother? Why stage a revolution of one evil ruler for another? How is that explained?

Good point. Maybe one is evil(er) than the other? An....evil...contest?

Even if you're on the same page as you're brother, if you're evil, why would you want to share power with him?

Re: Fable III -- Oct. 26th, 2010

My local Gamestop had a copy of the LE they were able to sell (it's good to have friends in retail management). She also gave me a code for the pre-order DLC. This is probably the most deluxe looking collector's edition I've ever seen for a video game. I might have to keep this on a book shelf because I don't think it's going to fit on the shelf where I keep my games.

Yeah, I was impressed by the fake book packaging, too. I didn't open the cards, but I will use the coin.

Between this, Dead Rising 2, Dragon's Age: Origins, Mafia II, Mass Effect 2, and Alan Wake (all CE's) I am seriously running out of room

The Fallout NV one wouldn't even fit

The last CE I got was Bioshock (the first one). I will be getting the Little Big Planet 2 CE though.

Re: Fable III -- Oct. 26th, 2010

I got both Bioshock CE's. I think the shittiest CE I ever got as far as extras go was the Mafia II CE. But the soundtrack was cool, and it did have a steelbook which I love. Oh and I sold the DLC for like $40

The best one might be Fallout 3 with the lunch box and the bobble head. The GTA IV CE was pretty nice, too.

But Fable III is awesome. I am trying to hold off getting into the game since Fallout New Vegas has me occupied.

Re: Fable III -- Oct. 26th, 2010

I don't buy CE's unless they have added in-game content. I hardly ever do anything with the physical stuff, and I have more than enough nerd products filling my shelves. I think Bioshock was the only one I got that didn't offer in-game extras.

So is this a standalone game or is it recommended to play through Fable 2 first?

It is a standalone. I certainly recommend playing the first two to get a feel of the Fable world, but by no means is it required.

When I turned the game on last night I noticed that you don't earn money while the game is off like in 2. Not a huge deal but I was hoping to have a few thousand waiting for me.

Yeah I read that in a review, I thought I read that they offset this change by making money more readily available or something, I can't remember now.

The jobs you can get in town do seem easier and offer more money. It took me maybe 30 minutes of lute playing to get enough to buy my first 3 houses to rent. And that's when I had the jobs still at level 2. Now I'm getting about 700 every 5 minutes from rent.

Re: Fable III -- Oct. 26th, 2010

This game BLOWS. IMO, Lionhead-up-their-ass made some really poor design decisions. No inventory screen. (How many potions do I have, how much food?) No way to tell. Can only access food or potions in combat and then only what the designers allow via the 360 controller's notoriously bad d-pad. Yeah, it sucks. No health bar either... not for you or for enemies. (Do I really need this expensive potion?) You can't change the expressions you want to "perform" for villagers. (Dance? Again? Fuck no...) I want a choice.
Well, they didn't lie. The game is dumbed down. VERY dumbed down. I don't often regret a game purchase but I regret this one.

Re: Fable III -- Oct. 26th, 2010

I am enjoying the game but I agree that it is not as good as Fable 2. The way they handled your inventory actually takes you out of the game more than a menu would. I like the way upgrades work with the chests, but inventory control takes 3 times as long as it would in a menu.

Things that I hate...

When I want to sleep, or talk to someone or pick something up the game is glitchy...the A button will not pop up from time to time, and once when I was trying to have an orgy, it took me 5 minutes of in and out to get the A to pop up over the bed...

Upkeep on homes...I understand why they put that in, to keep you from just leaving your game on and getting money as you walk away, but why make me work on each house ONE AT A TIME!!!??? Would it have been so hard to have a REPAIR ALL feature for each town?

The game has its charms, and a few quests have been fun (D&D quest funny as hell) but overall a disappointment.

Re: Fable III -- Oct. 26th, 2010

Once you get to the second half of the game, something happens and without spoiling anything, it gets a lot better. It still suffers from the problems above, and it still is not a great game...but at least I am enjoying it now....

Same for me. There's no way this will be my personal GOTY like II was.

Question: I haven't quite figured out how to use the dog trainer books yet. Does anyone know?

You have to get close enough to the dog to get the "whistle" (A button) to pop up. When the dog responds, there should be an option on the D-pad.
