What were your favorite video games growing up 80's/90's kids?

SNES:

Super Mario World '91 ('90 in Japan)
Super Mario Allstars '93 (Nicer graphics! Fixed all the cheating/control issues of the NES versions)
TMNT 4: Turtles in Time
Zelda 3: A Link to the Past (Best Zelda title I ever played)
Super Mario RPG '96 (brilliant Square Mario title overlooked due to Mario 64's release. It includes the likable Malo: the Marshmallow man with special powers -- and I highly prefer it over Mario 64.)
Final Fight '92

Gameboy:

Super Mario Land '89
Super Mario Land 2 '92
Link's Awakening (So many Mario characters in this game including a singing Wart! Strange game, but my 2nd favorite Zelda title)

Arcade:

Simpsons Arcade game
TMNT 1/2 Arcade games

Not video games, but I enjoyed games like ski-ball, etc., at the arcades! I haven't been to an arcade in many years. Most no longer exist.

--------------------------------------------------------

I never cared for the games on Nintendo 64 much with the exception of Goldeneye. I didn't like the N64 Zelda titles or Mario 64 much at all. I preferred Resident Evil and the roller coaster games on the PS1 by this point.

-------------------------------------------------------

Of course I've played systems past this point (and started drifting into mature titles at this point like GTA later on), but this is where I started to grow up and was older, so I won't include them.

My list is pretty much yours except that I liked The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

Most memorable for me --

Commodore 64:
Don't remember many, but Jet Set Willy always stood out.

NES / Gameboy:
Metroid
Super Mario Bros 1, 2 and 3
Legend of Zelda 1 and 2
Link's Awakening
Super Mario Land 1, 2
Battle of Olympus
Crystalis
Robowarrior (aka Bomber King)
The Guardian Legend
King's Quest V (...I played it first on the NES).
Lots of others I can't currently think of...

Sega Genesis
Sonic 1,2 and 3
Flashback
Out of This World
Kid Chameleon
Toejam and Earl
Ren and Stimpy

Sega CD:
Lunar: Silver Star Story

PSX and N64 are still too fresh to me... I feel old.

Never heard that before. Games like Mega 2+3, Mario Bros. 2+3 and many more featured excellent controls. Some of the games just really were hard (e.g. no save games).

Oh yeah, the NES pad was just about perfect, albeit a little small. The games were hard because they were difficult games.

Re: What were your favorite video games growing up 80's/90's kids?

I remember (sort of) the Ultimate games on the Spectrum and later on the Commodore 64: Jet Pac (also love the XBox Live remake), Sabre Wulf (I think that was it), and something with knights and such. I also used to play a lot of text-based adventure games, although looking back, I can't imagine how those would have been fun. I sure liked me some Hobbit back in the day, though. I remember the Gremlins game as well. For some reason I was obsessed with finishing that one. I also used to love getting my new C64 and TI-99 magazines and typing in the programs they included, followed by an hour and a half of figuring out what I typed in wrong to screw everything up. I seriously did enjoy that.

That and Toe Jam and Earl were two games that took me a little while to get into, but ended up being two of my favorites.

I also really dug Sim City on the SNES.
