The free games don't interest me (shame I don't have a UK account cos I would've bit on Quest For Booty), the three rental movies I either have or have seen ad naseum, and I see no compelling reason to get Playstation Plus (even free for 30 days) so the Welcome Back program is a bust for me.

I wonder how much sales of PSN cards will go up now that the store is back. I ordered a $20 code through Amazon last night and put it in my account, there's no way i'm giving them my Credit Card number again.

I did the same thing in anticipation of Duty Calling.

Yeah, don't know what happened regarding the backup. Thankfully, the restore of the full 60GB only took 90 minutes or so, although I haven't checked out the system yet after it completed. I would say most of my data is Rock Band or Guitar Hero related (some 600 songs each), along with some PSN games. I had already deleted all of my demos over time to make room for just the installations to play new games (I think MK9 required nearly 1GB). Hopefully I won't burn out my launch PS3 downloading all of the freebies and full game demos that I've been wanting to play.

Re: The Official PS3 thread - Aaaaannnnnnddddd we're back!

So I downloaded the two free games over Friday night. So on Saturday night I try to play the first one and it says it needs an update... and it will take at least two hours. LOL! So I try the second game, yeah, it also needs an update that will take around the same amount of time.

At least I was able to go back to Infamous and play. Maybe I will be able to finish it this game. Great game, really my kind of game, I don't know why I haven't been able to finish it.

It gets repetitive. That's why I stopped, I think. I'm having fun getting back into it now. Found a weird bug where I died during a story mission and then the mission was unavailable after that. That's a glitch, right?

You'll find one of the nice things with PS+ is they'll auto-download patches to games while you sleep. It's a nice little feature (though if you don't play the game within 30 days of the download they delete the update for some reason).

Yeah, it's repetitive, that's why I said it's my kind of game. I like this kind of repetitiveness. I just 100%, cleaned?, the first island (?).

I haven't gotten PS+ yet, the free one, just in case they release something I really like I can use it for the full month.

Yeah, I got sick of Infamous really fast due to the repetition. Though open world/sandbox gaming, in general, isn't for me.

I didn't like the inFAMOUS demo at all, but I'm liking the full game a lot.

Is that confirmed for the game updates? I always assumed that was for the pushed downloads of demos and stuff. I always see that warning after my games have auto-updated, but it seems kind of silly to delete an update like that.

Yeah, I don't even see it as a separate item to install, so I assumed it installed it and left it there, and only the demos/games would go away if not installed.

Yeah, I bought a $50 card at Target yesterday. There's no way my credit card info is being entered into the PS3.

Are you saying that you can sign up for ps+ before the month is up and you'll still get a full month free?

Yeah, but I do that in real life, so that gets old as well.
And I can assure you, as a board-certified physician, that administering uncontrolled electrical shocks to random injured people you come across on the street causes far more harm than benefit in real life.

the 30 days start after you sign up, so unless something you want is coming down with tomorrow's update, you'd maximize your potential by waiting a couple weeks. Don't quote me on it though just in case.

Yo TL, look up. You can just barely see the joke going over your head.

Ha! Man, it took me close to forever to figure that one out. Seems we got our very own Jeff Dunham here on DVDtalk.

Re: The Official PS3 thread - Aaaaannnnnnddddd we're back!

Have pretty much never played a game on my PS3, but got my email today about the free games.

What's this UK account thing? Is it too late for me to create another account and get different options?

Yeah. If you didn't have another account before the outage, you don't get anything now.

Re: The Official PS3 thread - Aaaaannnnnnddddd we're back!

Thanks for the info guys! Ill prolly get my + and free stuff this weekend when Im off and for Netflix, thatll probably be a go too. My only question is, how do people not take advantage of this. I can buy it and split it with other people. In fact, since my buddy has this, why dont I just ask him for the info I need and get it over at my place and split the cost?
