re: The official Xbox 360 thread - the console of choice on nuclear submarines

Do I need that official cable thingy or will any USB male-to-male transfer cable work as long as I have two working 360s?

BTW : Thanks for the info everyone. I didn't really want to hijack this thread a' la Scott, but there's so much confusing info on this topic on the internet with all the changes to the 360 memory systems over the years, and I appreciate the knowledge.

Just don't be surprised when Pinata pops over to your fancy Doctoring forums and starts talking circumcision.

I remember using it when I got the 250GB drive from woot in November(?) of last year. I used the disc utility to move everything over from the 120 to the 250, but then wanted to copy all my RB songs back onto the 120 for the other room. I started going through the music store, and it was obviously taking forever with all the content I have. I decided to check if I could just use it as a USB drive, and it worked like a charm.

My decision... doing some remodeling and it was just in the way.

Is there a way of telling if automatic renewal is on or off on your 360 account for XBL? I thought I saw an option before, but I couldn't find it when I just entered my renewal code for my prepaid card.

So the only way to check is by calling now? That sucks.

I'll take this and run with it - what if it is a fault of Microsoft's in-warranty hardware? I shipped off my broken power supply on March 7 and still don't have a new one. After more than 2 weeks of apparently not having any in stock -- yes, that's correct, Microsoft was out of power cables for 2+ weeks with no way of obtaining more -- they shipped a replacement. It was finally delivered this Monday, yay! Except it was delivered to my old address, despite my double and triple efforts to notify them to NOT send it there, so someone else has it now. The case has been in a state of "escalated" for the past 2 days, and I'm awaiting an urgent phone call from a Senior Cords and Bricks Specialist (I made that title up).

Long story short, I'm wondering if I'm justified in asking them for some kind of compensation for my month's worth of useless Gold membership, or at least the $10 it originally cost to ship the thing back to them.

When I had to ship in my xbox, they gave me a month free of gold to compensate for not having access to my account. I say go ahead and ask. Surprised they haven't offered already.

Looks like the XBox Rewards program has 5% back on all April purchases as well. I wonder if this is going to become a permanent thing? It's not much, but at least it's something.

I'm getting tired of not getting those emails. I even changed my email address. Been checking spam folders and everything. I seem to get all other xbox-related emails.

Thanks for the heads up.

I didn't think they were easy questions, but all of mine were related to Halo and Call of Duty and I've never played those games. Thanks for posting it - I'll keep trying at least.

I never played those games either, but I said they were easy because the answers to all the questions for Halo Reach and MW2 were basically in the first two paragraphs of their respective Wiki pages.

Answers for today, at least for the questions that I remember:

Which game has the experimental Soviet gas: CoD Black Ops
Final boss on Gears: General RAAM
Which difficulty was added to Gears 2: Normal
Who leads the human forces against the Covenant and Flood: Johnson

I played the trivia thing last night, and then again this morning and it was the same questions both times.

With no time limit, it's pretty easy just to google/wiki the anwers if you don't know them. I've only played the first Gears and the first Halo out of the games listed.

I think you get fewer points if you are slow. The first day, I got all the questions right but only got 35 out of 40.

Does the person with the highest score for the day automatically win the 1000 points, or is it random?

All I know is that every time I answered a question, I got one "sweepstakes" entry, whatever that means.

I think the instant win isn't related to the sweepstakes entries. Those are for the grand/first/second/etc prizes after the fact.

I don't know what determines the instant winners, but it's a slightly different system than Pepsi had two years ago.
