Re: Borderlands

Does anyone know the reason Borderlands characters max out at 69? This is my 2nd playthrough and the Secret Armory is kicking my ass. I thought I'd level up but it maxed at 69.

Re: Borderlands

Because that's the last level. The original game maxed at 50. They added 19 levels with updates and DLC.

Re: Borderlands

why 69? its borderlands. its funnier at 69 than 70. went 50-61-69. don't know why.

as far as knoxx goes, you NEED corrosive weapons or you won't make it through.

what system are you playing it on? if you're on xbox look for me on xbl and i'll hook you up with a weapon or 2 to help

i think Mordecai might still be my favorite, despite his slow run speed. the difference between weapons makes him so much fun to play different ways.

2 shot revolver vs 6 shot revolver vs machine pistol vs sniper rifle vs penetrator (machine sniper if you haven't seen it)

thanks, I didn't think there was a real reason but I thought I'd ask since most games I've played maxes at 99 (if I remember correctly)

I already finished the game once using Roland but I thought I'd play through as the other characters and then decided to play as Roland again. I'm actually playing four games, one for each character and I'm only trying to use Eridian weapons. Eridian Storm works pretty well with the first playthrough but much more difficult with the second even at level 25 for the weapon.

I let my gold run out but I'll look you up when I decide to upgrade again.

As much fun as I had with Lilith and her SMG's and Phase Walking, it was equally fun with The Birdman, Mordecai. Though he is associated with the Sniper Rifle, it's the pistols in his hands that are actually more deadly. as vballboy51 mentions. Master his "Birds" and Pistols and he is a killing machine.

sounds good. btw, eridian never get good. i leveled mine up to 50 and i still couldn't do anything. which is a shame, because they were pretty fun to use. just way too hard because of the # of bullets you have to throw at things. that cool down time kills you

Re: Borderlands

good to know, I was hoping it would be more effective if I leveled it up but I guess it's not really useful except for the first time through. I actually got through the Circle of Duty pretty easily just using them and switching to the corrosive smg whenever I ran up against lightning solders.

Re: Borderlands

Eridian was such a waste. Hopefully that's something they fix in B2.

Re: Borderlands

So my buddy and I are going to start round three of the battle arena from the DLC in the next couple days. Is it a LOT harder than the first two rounds? I'm just trying to find out if we should try to find some better weapons and shields first. We're both level 42/43 right now.

Re: Borderlands

I just started playing Borderlands based on the glowing reviews I've read about. I'm finding I'm completely emptying my ammo 3-4 times in order to kill one regular enemy on one mission (can't recall the name). I'm currently level 12 and they are all levels 13-14.

So I grinded to the end, beat the boss, but afterwards I have to go back through the level and all the enemies reappear. The same enemies that I have so much trouble killing. I just ran passed them.

Am I doing something wrong? Is the whole game this way with the amount of grinding in order to finish a mission?

Re: Borderlands

I think that was bonehead. He's a hurdle at the beginning. Enemies do respawn even after missions are completed. You're doing it right as long as you're managing your skill tree and weapons. It gets easier to understand.

Re: Borderlands

Thanks. Not liking the grinding and inventory management aspect of the game so far. My next mission says it's for level 17, or i can go collect a bunch of stuff.

Re: Borderlands

Which character are you playing as? Whichever one try to concentrate on the weapons meant for them....like Siren with SMG's, Soldier with rifles, Birdman with pistols and snipers and Sluggo with shotguns and rocket launchers.

At first any of the ones with FIRE works best followed by Acid and Electric. Just be careful with the oversize Razorbacks with Fire on their backs....imune to Fire.

there are other "things" to do. always a ton of side quests and guys to kill. there are level areas (and yes bonehead sucks). if you're finding guys that are over leveled, go to the previous area and level up, or complete other quests. quests are a much better way of getting xp

Re: Borderlands

When you (or anyone else) gets to "Super Marcus Sweep" in the Secret Armory download can you add me to the game? I fell through the glitch in the floor and need to join someone's game who hasn't completed the mission yet so I can move on. My 360 gamertag is BrassyLobster. I can usually play arount 7PM Pacific time.

Yes, Lilith is the Siren. SMGs are the way to go with her. If you get in over your head in battle you can Phasewalk/run the hell out of there. I think that was the opposite of their intention with Phasewalk, but it really doesn't do a whole lot until she's leveled up fairly high.

Re: Borderlands

Well, at right under 60hrs my friend and I finally "finished" this game over the weekend. We didn't do all the side missions, just all of the main story and DLC packs that came with the GOTY edition. I think we ended up at around level 45-46, which I thought was pretty low considering the amount of time that we put into it. Overall I loved the game. That's the most hours I can remember putting into a single game on the 360 so far. The nice thing is that we can take a break from Borderlands now and by the time we want to get back into it the GOTY edition will be out for Borderlands 2

Two quick questions though.

There were some extra waves that opened up for Mad Moxxi's Underdome Riot after we finished the first 4 or so, but I didn't see the options pop up for them on the missions menu and it didn't look like there were achievements for them either. Are the extra waves just for fun or do you get anything for completing them?

Last, there is a mission called You Will Die, or something like that, that seemed next to impossible when we tried it out. Died a ton in the first couple mins and were losing money like crazy. Is there a reasonable way to beat this mission and is it worth it? What do you get from it?

Re: Borderlands

You'll need to level up a lot more or look for the glitch to beat that one.
