Re: Borderlands
I am almost to level 30. I have been doing every quest I find. The game is great.

Re: Borderlands
I'm thinking about picking this up, because of the comparisons to Fallout 3.

Re: Borderlands
Can anyone help me out? I am intrigued but just couldn't get into Fallout 3. So is Borderlands more RPG or FPS? I'm big on COD, Halo, etc. but sold Fallout 3 a while after purchase. Thanks--

Re: Borderlands
It's basically a FPS where you complete quests and gain levels.

Re: Borderlands
Agree with everyone else here - I had a bit of trouble getting into this game at first, but now I'm loving it. To me it seemed like the difficulty was greater in the early levels, but maybe that's just a learning curve thing, especially for someone who doesn't play many FPS games. I nearly gave up on the game out of frustration early on, but I'm very glad I didn't.
I'm at level 32 and just got to the Salt Flats, so I guess I'm getting pretty close to the end. I've done every single quest in the game so far. Haven't really done any multiplayer yet, except for a few minutes to test it out (and local split-screen using a second controller to get those achievements ).I can't imagine anyone who liked Fallout 3 not liking this game. It's certainly more action-oriented, but there are a lot of similarities. |

Re: Borderlands
Should I get the PC or 360 version? I was gonna get it off steam, but hear people complaining about mulitplayer issues on the PC version

Re: Borderlands
I don't have a 360 but I would say 360 just because of the issues. I don't think there will be any mods for the game otherwise I would go with the PC. I have the PS3 version.

Re: Borderlands
I've heard from some other online players that they are going to increase the level cap to 100. Anyone else heard this?

Re: Borderlands
Finished the game last night. I was almost to level 37 at the end. I was a little disappointed by the ending for a few reasons that I won't go into for fear of spoilers -- if you've finished the game you probably know what I mean -- but the rest of the game more than made up for it.
And then I started playthrough 2 and was very happy to discover that it's addictive all over again thanks to the higher difficulty of enemies (and their new names!). The game just continues to impress. I was worried that I'd never be able to get to level 50, but with the things that playthrough 2 throws at you, that's not a worry. I just entered the Lost Cave (with the shock crystals) at level 40, and halfway through I'm halfway to level 41. It's insane! |

I doubt they'll go to 100. Probably some DLC will raise the cap to 60. If they gave you 95 Skill Points, you'd be maxed out in everything. Another 5 or 10 points would be nice, though. |

I believe you get your first point at level 5.

Re: Borderlands
that is correct, although it doesn't open up the actual skills, you get your special skill at that level, iirc.

Re: Borderlands
Well I caved in and bought it off Steam. It finally finished downloading, played alittle bit, by myself. I just the first couple quest. I must say there Visually its really good, Though the Screen Tearing was really bad, But found a fix by going into the Display File and changing Vsync from False to True (found this on Gearbox' Forums) Without this fix any small movement I was getting Screen Tear. Now I have the game maxed out Visually and it looks really nice. This seems like its gonna be a fun game, I just need to figure out what my Gamespy ID and password is, Been a long time since I used Gamespy.
Once I do I need to add some friends on here to play some CO-OP

Re: Borderlands
Two questions:
* My wife and I just started a co-op game, she's the Siren. What's the purpose of Lilith's special skill? Seems like she just runs fast, is it to escape? * Is there any way to make the split screen horizontal instead of vertical? I find that having a wider range of vision is usually more helpful than having a higher range of vision. One more minor nitpick - in my story mode, I'm about level 20. I'm a little underwhelmed by the lack of variety in enemy monsters. Some of the variants are really cool, but so far there's only, what, five major types of enemies that I've encountered. I wouldn't mind a few more. The variety in variants helps, they're not just palette swaps for the most part.

edit: I haven't tried splitscreen so i can't help you there. I do agree though - splitting the screen vertically is super irritating in a FPS.

Re: Borderlands
I don't like the Phase Strike (+800% Melee damage while in Phasewalk).
My skill explodes with corrosive damage, shocks everything I walk by, heals me, makes me invisible, gives me speed boost. I use it to run by a group of enemies, inflicting them all with recurring shock damage, get behind the group (or next to a turret) and mow them down with my super SMG skillz. Each kill reduces my cooldown time by 2.4 seconds, I believe, and I've already reduced the base cooldown to around 26 seconds. Add my Phoenix skill (burn everything around me after a kill) and every enemy I encounter is bleeding green, blue, and orange damage. |

Re: Borderlands
Looks like the first DLC is hitting XBL & PSN on the 24th. PSN updates on the 24th (a Tuesday) because of Thanksgiving, I believe.
Entitled The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned (presumably the deranged brother of Dr. Zed?), it'll cost $10 or the spacebuck equivalent. No other details like achievements/trophies or, more importantly, level cap increases ![]() |

Re: Borderlands
Level cap increases do! I can't stop playing anyway, but I would love to be rewarded for it as the item drops leave a lot to be desired even with 4 50-level players beyond playthrough 2!
I don't want to give up my Siren out of boredom ![]() What do you care anyway? It's not the weekend yet. You're off your Borderlands schedule. |
