Re: Rock Band: The Official Thread
I hate to interrupt the crickets chirping in here, but I thought I might start some rampant, nearly-baseless speculation.
I'm thinking we're getting the remaining 3 Nevermind tracks (Smells Like Teen Spirit, Lithium, and Come as You Are) announced tomorrow, released on Tuesday, September 1st.
Why? Well, HMX announced more Nirvana is coming the same time they said Tom Petty is coming. In fact, it was only 2 days later they gave us a Tom Petty date.
Coupled with all the recent GH5 songs that RB has released as DLC, it's obvious this is the game they're playing.
We know GH5 has SLTS and Lithium on disc, so they're easily fair game. Throw on CAYA and it's a golden 3-pack, especially if it's released the same day as GH5.
Plus, there was this tweet yesterday from one HMX employee, retweeted by another that I know I'm reading FAAAR too much into:
So, anyway, that's what I'm hoping will happen. Any thoughts on this? Other likely counter-programming DLC that you think makes sense?

Yep I completely agree. Another to look out for is The RB Unplugged pack. Exclusives tend to have a 3 month window and September 9th will make it 3 months since it came out for the PSP.

This Rolling Stones article (mainly about GH5 and their zombie Kurt Kobain avatar) says this about Lithium.
Of course, Harmonix has the awesome ability to essentially re-create masters, like they did with The Beatles. I do fully expect tomorrow's DLC announcement to be a "Fuck You, GH5" type of deal though.

Guitar Hero’s decision to include the Reading rendition of “Lithium” was an apt choice (original stems from the album version could not be found).

So now that Tom Petty, Bob Dylan, Roy Orbison, and George Harrison are in RB (does Jeff Lynne matter? ), when are we getting some Traveling Wilburys? Please?
