I really like the set list, but I probably won't be getting it if you can't import songs from World Tour and Metallica. I've got around 250 - 300 songs in my Rock Band library. I can have a dozen guys over, all picking songs and trading instruments and everyone's having a blast. I pop in a Guitar Hero game and the room gets bored with it way quicker. I wish Activision would get on the boat with bringing everything you've bought into the same library. Oh well. I'll pick it up when it hits $15 at Target Clearance, just for a handful of songs I'd enjoy playing alone.

I like the bands... but not the songs so much.

Shocked to see Elliott Smith in there.I love him but wouldnt have thought of his music for a GH game.
Great to see Sonic Youth's Incinerate and Jeff Beck's Scatterbrain in there.

I love the bands...and GH is nowhere near as terrible as Rock Band in this regard...but quite a few of the song choices are just headscratching and bordering on terrible. They need to use itunes/album sales as the gauge and work there way down...not a few people trying to show how creative and eclectic they are by picking random songs from amazing artists.

This. Alot of those selections are ones that I would've chose to not put on the game if I was making that list. Queen, KISS, Deep Purple, and Motley Crue are the big standouts for me that get a thumbs down, and I love all 4 of those bands. However, unless Play That Funky Music is released on RB before this comes out, I may get it just for that.

I'll give them some alt-rock cred for including The Duke Spirit, Vampire Weekend, My Morning Jacket, Sunny Day Real Estate and Band of Horses... but, as mentioned, those big name acts got some crappy ass titles.
Blur - Song 2, though. Wooo hooo.

Re: Guitar Hero: The One and Only Thread
Are bands holding out their best songs to see if they can get a GH or RB title dedicated to them?

Re: Guitar Hero: The One and Only Thread
Hopefully we don't see any more dedicated games unless they're someone worth dedicating. The one's announced/released, in my opinion, are worthy:
Aerosmith: Sure, but done poorly
AC/DC: Big library, great songs, but why live tracks?
Metallica: Good stuff, especially with the DM download (But not exactly my cup o' tea)
Van Halen: Yeah, big library & awesome guitarist, but pick the right songs
Beatles: While I'm a semi-fan of the Beatles, THIS is what a dedicated game should be.
I'm an 80's guy, so my opinion is biased, but even still...
KISS: Big library, but GH/RB worthy? I don't think so, and they're my fave band.
Deep Purple: Not enough 'hits', too much keyboard.
Motley Crue: It'd be nice, but I don't see it happening.
Bon Jovi: Enough hits, big library, but they'd fuck it up Aerosmith style.
Rolling Stones: Bring it on! (and I'm not a huge fan)
Jimi Hendrix: Not enough 'hits' for a complete game.
Led Zeppelin:

Re: Guitar Hero: The One and Only Thread
My best explanation would be that AC/DC does not have a "greatest hits" studio tracks release, as the band does not believe in them and are instead big proponents of the "album as an artform" mentality (which is also why they do not sell their music digitally and on a per track basis)....their "Live" album is the closest thing they have to a greatest hits release, so they went with that...

Re: Guitar Hero: The One and Only Thread
That doesn't really make sense when contrasted with the GH artist standalone games, though-all of which have featured an assortment of tracks from various albums, rather than songs taken from a greatest hits package. I would have very much preferred the same approach for the AC/DC release. I'd have to guess it may have been a money thing.
