No. Bought one in November 2006, died October 2008. Had the CC warranty so got a new Elite.

Still on my first. I've only had it 13 months though.
I think I just jinxed myself. |

Re: Still have your first Xbox 360?
I bought my first and only 360 in April of 2007. It just died (E74) at the end of June, and it's heading back to me now. I was shocked it lasted that long.
It went through Air Conditioned and not apartments and dorm rooms and didn't have a single sign of dying until I got a weird graphical glitch one night, rebooted it and it was dead.

Re: Still have your first Xbox 360?
Bought my pro in july of 06 in jacksonville, FL. Moved to Hawaii 6 months later, and since then its been in a non-airconditioned house, its been to Iraq twice, Qatar, Italy, and back. Just moved into a new house last month, and it was working fine for a few weeks, then died. No warning, just tried to turn it on and got the RROD. Looked up the codes online, and it was the hardware failure type. So went out and bought a Arcade version with Jasper, pluged in my old hard drive and transfered my licenses. Now debating on getting a new hard drive since this one is so old, last thing i want is for it to fail and lose all my saves.

Scuttlebutt is that a super-big Hard Drive is in the pipeline. You can count on it being super-expensive, though.

Re: Still have your first Xbox 360?
I got mine around Christmas 2006, and it died about a year later. The replacement has had no problems since.

Re: Still have your first Xbox 360?
I dont need anything big, So hopefully that would bring the price of the 120GB one down to something reasonable.

One of the core arguments against the face value worth of the price of an Xbox 360 compared to a PS3, is the size of its hard drive. Nowadays, purchasing a brand new, entry point PlayStation 3 will ensure you get an 80GB hard drive inside the console, whereas purchasing a new Xbox 360 can start you off with a hard drive as small as 256MB (recently stealthily upgraded to 512MB). For those seeking to purchase a larger capacity Xbox 360 hard drive, a 120GB HDD will set them back around $199.95 RRP. 120GB is by no means a small hard drive, but when you consider that Microsoft has recently unveiled its Games on Demand feature (a feature that, as the name suggests, allows you to download Xbox 360 games), you don’t have to scan too far down the Xbox 360 game install size list to realise that games can range from a couple of gigabytes to over 20. Suddenly 120GB seems a whole lot smaller. According to Home Cinema Choice, a one terabyte hard drive is currently “in development for the next iteration of Microsoft's Xbox 360 console.” The massive hard drive is said to be targeted for a 2010 release, alongside the upcoming Project Natal. While this would certainly solve the issues of storage space for the Xbox 360 owner seeking to make full use of the Games on Demand feature, we can’t help but wonder about the problems of pricing. Xbox 360 peripherals aren’t exactly cheap, and when you consider that a 120GB hard drive will set you back $199.95 RRP, a dollar per gigabyte translation for the possible price of a terabyte hard drive, puts it in the vicinity of $1,666.25 RRP. Obviously if such a hard drive proves to be true, then the price wouldn’t be quite that high, but one has to wonder about how Microsoft would get bang for their buck, while not setting a ridiculously high price on this particularly sizeable hardware upgrade. http://www.gameplayer.com.au/gp_docu...5Terabyte.aspx -1 terabyte that's gonna be one expensive hard drive.

I have a Jasper Arcade console. It's great. Whisper quiet. I hate the white bezel on the DVD tray, but with the white faceplate or a blue one, it looks okay. Performance-wise, it's super (though as I mentioned in the 360 thread, it has a built-in memory card, so for almost every game, you have to designate your game save to the HDD instead of the memory card before starting it. Not the biggest deal, but it gets annoying.

Re: Still have your first Xbox 360?
I'm absolutely shocked to see how many of you have had defective machines. I mean I guess I'm one of the lucky few to have had my machine last for almost 3 years now.
However, I probably play maybe 2-3 hours a week max, so that has probably helped contribute to it's longer lifespan. |

Re: Still have your first Xbox 360?
Jasper 360s have redesigned chipsets, they run much quieter and cooler, and thus, are less likely to fail.

Re: Still have your first Xbox 360?
20 GB is what came with them. You only had about 13 GB that could be used due to what's reserved for system use, etc, but the HD's were 20 GB from launch, exceptr for the Arcade models that shipped later, without an HD.

Re: Still have your first Xbox 360?
I think pretty much every Arcade version now is a Jasper model. Mine is definitely quieter and cooler than my old 20gb model from a couple years ago.

Re: Still have your first Xbox 360?
I still have my launch system but had to fix the rrod just about a month ago. I fixed it myself rather than sending it in. Wasn't as hard as I was expecting and it's working great once again.
