I've got a huge backlog of games too. I mean.. I got Mass Effect from my wife for XMas 2 years ago and haven't even popped it in yet.

As for not being a single-player experience, play online more. I have almost as much fun playing online with people I know as I do in the real group environment. I bust out the stage kit and run around the living room (wish the Lips mics worked. ). Sure, nothing beats playing in the same room, but that just means you need to find some local people that play. It shouldn't be too hard. Just last week when I was driving to work on garbage day, I saw an RB2 Full Band box out for the trash, as well as a RB1 drumkit at another house.

What's wrong with getting excited for DLC even if you don't buy it first thing Tuesday morning, or even the next time you play the game? It's awesome that it's there for when I want to get it.

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread

I honestly can't think of anything they could put out as DLC that I couldn't wait a few more weeks for, just in case. I don't care if it's Pink Floyd, Appetite for Destruction, Sponge, The Descendents, Live, The Black Parade, Dookie, or even Green Day's Jesus of Suburbia.

I could wait.

The one time I was going to do what you did with Priest was for Ten, but my 360 was still in RROD land then

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread

I get excited for tracks to come out, but I only buy them when I sit down to play, which is only every few weeks. It's not a fun game to play by yourself (sometimes I'll do a song or two to relieve some stress but not often) so I save it for when my wife wants to play too or we have friends over.

So I look forward to tracks but don't feel like buying things right away.

I let it build it up for several weeks and then blow my load all at once, usually before a party. Wait, what are we talking about again?

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread

Jane Says is most assuredly a "vocals" song. I haven't picked up the Jane's album yet (maybe next week), but I'm sure that song's pretty boring on everything else.

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread

Jane definitely isn't boring to me since I can't get the pattern down. I found it pretty damn hard. Not hard enough to fail, but definitely not easy. It is repetitive though.

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread

I tried for the bundle a couple times because I really want the RB2 Drum set. My friend wants any set so I'd give him my old RB1 instruments. Sadly I didn't win. I can confirm that you get nothing in return. They do have a "Sorry you didn't win" screen if anyone was curious since it looks like most of us don't actually get to see that one. I think I'm 19 for 19 on caps I've tried to get a song on.

The vending machines at my company are stocked with bottles with the Rock Band caps ... not a great deal, but acceptable at $1.40 each.

Geez, some parts of this just look absolutely insane... especially towards the end of the song.

Lego Rock Band will have a Jackson 5 track, Traveller’s Tales boss Jonathan Smith told VG247 this morning.

“We have the Jackson 5’s amazing ‘I Want You Back’; “Breakout” by Foo Fighters, and ‘A-Punk’ from the brilliant Vampire Weekend,” said the developer.

Guess the Guitar Hero overlap isn't going away anytime soon.

(Same track's on the set list for Guitar Hero V.)

And probably features a lot more notes! (If it needs it or not!)

This is the 2nd or 3rd time that RB2's made it on the list. GH:WT has completely fallen off the list for the past month or so. Just goes to show that if you have a quality game and quality DLC, people will continue to play.

Another way to look at it is: Tips for Beating the Summer Game Drought!

But, seriously, it probably is never far out of the top 10 anyway. Especially if my friends list is any indication.

or better yet just put a sign up on the machine asking people to give you the caps. Most of your coworkers probably don't play the game anyway and would have no problem simply just giving you the cap.

I don't think the summer drought thing really comes into play. Just because there aren't any good games (in the general consensus) this summer doesn't mean people are playing RB2. They could just as easily pick any game in their backlog, or something else that has good multiplayer (like COD or Gears, obviously).

I think the real reason it's started to pop up on the list again is obvious... MAIDEN!!

Right and even Nintendo's partnership is straight up $2 in points, not even required to get a song.

Have Nintendo figured out how to do codes for individual DLC yet?

Re: Rock Band: Official Thread

Probably not, but it helps point to deals with Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft and not Harmonix/MTV Games directly. Of course they may have been the broker for the deal between PepsiCo and the other 3 based on the existing relationships, knowledge, and content.
