Re: Tony Hawk Ride

I've already seen more than one copy dumped off at a local gaming shop, a solid sign it's crap.

Here's another solid sign it's crap, just click on Tony Hawk RIDE on this link on 360voice.com to see the daily players since launch. NOBODY is playing this game. It's a bust like I've never seen, especially for such a high profile game. I wonder what the story is with those early reviews -- everyone's entitled to their own opinion, but how could they be so far off from what the more "reputable" game magazines and websites are reporting. Something doesn't seem on the up-and-up. Have we ever seen a Metacritc score drop from 92 to 59 in less than a week before? (and that's before the Gamespot review score gets figured in)

Re: Tony Hawk Ride

Maybe it was bad timing. So many other good games (COD4, Borderlands, etc) out there right now that can be had for much less.

Re: Tony Hawk Ride

Seems more likely that they knew they had a crap game, and instead of fixing it, they pushed it out just in time for the holidays, so that unsuspecting parents might buy it for their kids, and they could recoup some of the money that went into it.

Re: Tony Hawk Ride

How could anyone not think this would be a massive failure the second they heard about it? 2009, the year of the PSP Go and Tony Hawk Ride.

Yeah, this. If you ignore the obvious shill reviews, you're left with scores that are in the 60s at best, sub-40s at worst. This is just a bad game, and no matter when they released it, it would've been a big bomb.

Re: Tony Hawk Ride

I was just at Best Buy and they had 3 huge stacks (one for each console) of the game, all piled high - these are going into a landfill with the E.T. cartridges.

After the success of Wii Fit, I can't blame them for trying something like this.

Although, I still thought this would be a failure, just due to the diminished Tony Hawk brand.

Re: Tony Hawk Ride

The problem is not so much the board, but the actual game, it seems. You take away to board element and incorporate regular controls, and you're still left with the worst Tony Hawk game yet: horrible graphics, horrible camera, very little content, what little there is, it's horribly put together, etc. etc. - the board controls are the least of it's problems.

Yeah, that's the impression I got from the reviews too. The board itself isn't terrible, it's the actual game itself that fails on a lot of levels.

Re: Tony Hawk Ride

From what I've seen the board "works" for the most part on the easiest setting where the game steers for you. The flaws really start to come out when you bump that up where you steer yourself. Some of the videos I've seen of that are just awful, and makes the game look totally broken.

There are way too many flaws, from the game itself to the board controls, to buy this thing at full price, or anywhere near $100.
