Reliable place to buy N64 console?
Are there any reliable places (B&M or online) to buy a refurbed N64 console?
I was thinking of buying one + Mario Kart 64 to play with my son. I was hoping to spend $50 or less.
Obviously, I'm not much of a current gamer so I don't know which stores are good these days.
Thanks for any help.

I know some of the non-gamestop videogame stores sell them (gamers here). Though, ebay is your best bet to get more for your money. The N64 had VERY few problems, so you can buy a used one without much worry.

I have about 4 or 5 consoles collecting dust if you are interested with numerous controllers and a whole lot of cheap games. PM me and we'll talk.

Got one off Craigslist two summers ago with Mario Kart, Goldeneye, and a couple other games, with 4 controllers for $50. It's not mint or even near it, but I've never had a problem with any of it.

I would second the Craigslist recommendation and also suggest looking at your local thrift stores. In either case, you should be able to visually inspect the system and hook it up to a TV before you buy, if you want to. I just picked up an N64 + 2 controllers at a thrift store for $25.
In my experience, the only thing to look out for and avoid are controllers that have loose analog sticks.

Re: Reliable place to buy N64 console?
My experience with a used n64 and n64 games was limited to just a few games. I only had problems with one used game -- Pilot Wings 64. If I remember correctly, I think the problem was that the game wasn't able to save my progress like it was supposed to. Some games like that had internal lithium batteries that were physically attached to the board ?
