That's exactly what i did... but popping the old PS3 hdd in the enclosure don't do it. The PS3 will not recognize it, the computer will not give a drive letter for it...

Then what the heck to do you do?

It seems extremely annoying that they'd make it a pain to port over your saves if they've given you the option of upgrading your drive.

RocShemp: if you upgrade your drive by first doing a system backup on an external drive, and then do a restore from that drive on the same PS3, you'll be fine.

The problem comes when your system dies before you can do a backup, or if you have to switch to a new PS3.

Okay, so I gotta either borrow or buy an external drive and buy a new drive in order to upgrade my PS3?

A 60GB (well, all I really need is 40GB) flashdrive for under $10? Huh? Do they even come with that much storage?

Re: Official PS3 Thread - March 09 Edition

^ it depends how much contents you have on your PS3. If less than 2gb, then yeah, an inexpensive flashdrive will do the trick. If you have 40gb PS3, you don't need a 40gb or more external hdd to do backups, unless you used up all the space...

Errrr, i wasn't trying to upgrade my hdd, i already did that. The pain is pretty much what D Shea is going through now, just less, because i had way less content than him back then.

What i was talking about is to make use of the old PS3 hdd that i took out... You can basically convert it to an external hdd. A portable 40gb external hdd for $7, not bad eh?

Thanks. My credit card can't take it, but it's going to.

Now if only Soldner-X would go on sale, I'd have every PSN title that I've been wanting.

The shitty thing is that although you backup your data if you were forced to install it to another system because yours broke you would lose all copy protected data (saves, videos, etc). This is the real pain that I'm pissed with Sony about right now. Plus, I was told they double encrypt every file on the internal hard drive making it nearly impossible to crack just to get your files back. The ability to do a simple hard drive swap would solve all of these problems.

the shittiest part that has no explanation is why SOME games copy protect their save data - I'm looking at you RockBand!

I played level 7 of Savage Moon last night on Vengeance mode and lasted 91 minutes (perfect way to get the last trophy I needed!)

The waves get pretty nasty an hour in. Even with three overlapping Repair towers, those flying shooters can take out a tower in a single shot!

i have soldner-x, man, i'm telling you, if you're not good with shoot'em ups, don't get this. It's very anal, very difficult! The control is a bit off too, since your vehicle has force shields, it's not one hit you die kind of thing. Then you might ask, if it's a force shield thing, how hard can it be right? I don't know, it's pretty hard for me... but it has co-op, so i guess it's an okay buy (i paid $10 for it). The PC CE version is only $10...

The way you described the game play, it sounded like one of those defense tower kind of game, like PJ Monsters. Is it something like that? I never really read up on the game, so i have no clue other than it's on the moon...
