Cool. I remember the old text based Zork trilogy.

Thanks, had fun. Still remember playing the first on an Atari 800XL (?) computer waaaay back...too bad I can only play so much a day without buying more time, though. Cool game anyway.

Here's my character: Fenwick Wizka
I had a little fun with the biography:
I had a little fun with the biography:
ABOUT FENWICK WIZKA
Fenwick Wizka is a nervous young man from Anthar. Prior to his unemployment, Fenwick had the distinction of being the 109th-worst traveling salesman of all time for FrobozzCo International, although he was considered a favorite to break into the bottom 50. His exceptional lack of skill was not recognized during his job interview because he had in fact never had one, his employment owing entirely to a clerical error in his offer letter. (Wenfick Mizka of Festeron now works as a window washer.)

Re: Anyone else playing Legends of Zork?
Having played through every game with Zork in the name ever released, I'd have to say I was pretty disappointed when I tried this. Other than the names of the places, I see nothing Zork-like about it. Granted I only played 30 AP, but really the closest thing it reminds me of is Progress Quest, except Progress Quest was a joke and the content was actually funnier.
Hopefully there is more to the game than what I saw in my first visit, but you would think they would try to make a better first impression.

I played KOL in the past for awhile, but I think the Legends of Zork presentation really shines (and I love the artwork). If they can keep me engaged by offering interesting/funny quests, I'll stick around.
Plus, I use up my turns in like 10 minutes. It's the perfect game for me.

I love their welcome e-mail:
Hail Adventurer!
Are you ready to embark on a life of excitement, fame, wealth, and coconuts?
Yes, we thought you might be. Obviously, the fact that you’ve just registered with us was a bit of a give away...
Speaking of registration, here are the details you’ve registered with us:
Username:
Password:
Unless of course you haven’t registered with us? Perhaps some vagrant on the internet is running around creating Legends of Zork accounts for random people? Maybe he’s also giving out free candy and puppies, because frankly, if you haven’t just registered with us, that guy has done you a HUGE favour!
Nevertheless, congratulations on registering (or being registered) with one of the fast growing casual adventure games on the internet! This is without a doubt the smartest thing that you’ve done since you bought all that washing detergent at bargain prices, and it will be almost as rewarding. Don’t get me wrong, at Jolt Online Games we know that the work we do is top quality, but no one can argue against the joys of having your shirts whiter than white.
Happy Adventuring,
-The LoZ Team

Re: Anyone else playing Legends of Zork?
After playing a few days I'm enjoying it for a free game. It's definitely Zork in name only (or license aquisition only), but it's still a fun waste of 15 minutes a day. Hopefully they change it so you don't get charged like 4 action points just for going to the base and back, that's kind of annoying.

Re: Anyone else playing Legends of Zork?
Is anyone still playing this? It's basically Progress Quest with a Zork theme, but for some reason I keep playing. Probably because I like seeing little numbers get bigger. Even the combat design (basically the whole game) is not great; essentially, you cannot lose at PVP if you initiate combat and know a few of the rules. I just don't even bother with it, which is why my win ratio is something like 15% at this point.
I (and everyone else, I think) have made suggestions to add, you know, actual puzzles to the game, but who knows if we'll see anything like that. Honestly, Activision should have approached the guys behind Kingdom of Loathing to program/write the game and thrown a few talented artists their way. Or get Marc Blank or Dave Lebling to write it. They can't be that busy these days.
