Looks like the deal is going to happen again on Amazon at 12 PM PST / 3 PM EST. It's on Walmart.com now too.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

This is what my confirmation email says:

Shipping Method: Two-Day Shipping
Shipping Preference: Group my items into as few shipments as possible
Subtotal of Items: $199.99
Shipping & Handling: $0.00
Gold Box Discount: -$0.01
------
Total for this Order: $199.98

Delivery estimate: November 10, 2009
1 "Xbox 360 Arcade"
Video Game; $199.99
Am I safe for the $100 coupon code?

Edit: Looks like they'll email it 7 days after the item has shipped

I'd guess yes. Mine didn't say anything about the Gold Box and had the extra penny in the price.

I canceled rather than bothering with CS. I just barely wanted the damn thing anyway.

Did you use Safari on your iPhone or the Amazon app? I'm going to try this at 12PM Pacific, but I'll be at work, so any tips would be appreciated.

Safari. I just went to the lightning page and kept refreshing until it popped up. It was never slow or even delayed. Couple of clicks later and it was done.

I think that Amazon sale lasted 15 seconds.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

I clicked through the second the deal started, the site was slower than Amazon usually is, and my order totalled $199.99 after checkout was complete. No -$0.01 so I guess I didn't get in.

Yeah, it was wierd for me, it was added to my cart with the discount, but then the final screen didn't show the 1 cent discount anymore, so I assume that I missed it too.

I did the same things pretty much. Clicked buy as soon as it when live. Initially, my order said $199.98, but was up to 199.99 when I got to the final purchase page.

I bought it anyway, and sent an email asking for the promo. They replied pretty quickly with an, "ok, you'll get the penny off and the $100 promo in an email within a week".

Big thanks to whoever bumped this thread with the 2nd deal. I saw it here and immediately went to Amazon, and the deal was just starting. Perfect timing.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

I picked up my third xbox today with this amazon deal..and plan on using the 100 GC for a Wii...cause my daughter wants one bad....that, with the 52" 1080p Sharp tv I got for 898 today, and I have had some fun...

Nothing like 52 inches in the bedroom for your xbox...esp when you are only 5-6 feet away!!!

I emailed them right after ordering as well, but haven't yet received a response. In the meantime, my order has gone into a "shipping soon and cannot be cancelled" status. Despite the fact that it says estimated delivery date Nov. 12, and despite the fact that I'm a Prime member.

I'm not too worried about it, because I'll be refusing shipment if I don't get the deal. A lot of people commenting at Amazon are pissed about it though, and I'm certain that customer service has been flooded with calls/emails today.

The bottom line is, if you click through to purchase an item from the deal page, and it lets you check out 30 seconds later with no notice that the deal has expired, then you should get the deal.

I guess I don't understand why the deal wasn't given it's own item # or something so that when stock was out, it wouldn't let you order any more. Instead it seems it just carried over into the regular stock.... seems like Amazon should have thought this thing through. They're normally pretty good about honoring goofs. so we'll have to see.

I had moved mine from prime to the somewhat slower shipping just in case. Guess I can move it back to prime now, not that it really matters.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

I got a response from Amazon saying that they checked my order and it did not qualify for the promotion. After complaining again, I have now been bumped to the "Marketing Team" who is working to correct the problem.

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

I canceled mine right away. I figured Amazon would be putting them is "shipping soon" status to try and avoid the mass cancellation after people realize they didn't get the $100 credit. They're probably hoping some people won't go through the hassle of sending it back. You can never trust their shipping dates they list, especially with free shipping.

I'm just looking to upgrade so I will wait and see if they run a special again before Christmas.

I got the same email earlier today, and then a few minutes ago I got this one:

Re: The Video Game Deals Thread

Just got this email from amazon

Hello from Amazon.com.

We noticed you cancelled your order# xxx-xxxxxxxx-xxxxxxx originally placed during the Lightning Deal promotion for the Xbox 360 Arcade console on November 7, 2009. If you cancelled your order due to problems with the promotion, we want to make sure you can take advantage of this deal if you're still interested.

If you order an Xbox 360 Arcade Console by 11:59pm PT on November 14, your order will qualify you for the $100 promotional code. The $100 promotional code does not apply to the purchase of the Xbox 360 Arcade itself, but is valid for a qualifying future purchase. The offer is limit one per household and is not transferable.

To order the console, go to the product’s detail page listed below, add it to your cart for $199.99, and check out as normal. Please note, Amazon.com must be the seller in order for you to qualify for the promotion.

Does that mean the deal is still on or is it only good for those that canceled?

I assume it's only good for those that ordered during the "window" and then canceled. But who knows? This whole thing has been a clusterfuck.

Classy move by Amazon though. You've got to hand it to them... every once in awhile they muff something but they often go above and beyond to make their customers happy.

Good deal at Best Buy for RewardZone members, courtesy of CAG:
Text Gamer to 332211 to opt in for promos and discounts. They'll send you back a confirmation and then later send back this message:
Best Buy RZ Gamer Deal:Show this msg & save $20 on Xbox Live Card. SKU: 9636222 Expires 11/14 RZ Members Only Limit 1.
Show that to the CS and you get a year of Xbox Live for $30. It works with both the 12+1 Month card and the CoD MW2 mini-box that contains a 12 month card and a MW2 t-shirt (XL). Got one of those at lunch today.

Note: You could also just text that message to yourself and it would work fine as well.
