Re: Official PSN Games Thread
Two good but over-rated games. I liked Journey and it's cool. It's beautiful and memorable; I'm just not sure it's really a game. I sort of hated Limbo (dubbing it a physics-based child mutilation simulator), but most people really liked it as a clever puzzle game with a unique art style. At that price (and with Cross-Buy) I'm sure it's worth picking up, even though personally, I'm still pretty down on the game.

Re: Official PSN Games Thread
Thanks.
I'll look at some reviews before dropping the $10. With the PS4 coming up, I'm just a bit hesitant to load up on PS3 games, especially when I think many of them will be ported to the newer console.
I was sure about Journey and on the fence on Limbo...might end up the other way around.
That's the first mixed "review" I've seen of Journey. Did you like Flower?

Don't get me wrong. Journey is a great experience and well worth $3.75. I paid $11.99 for it the first time it went on sale and between its short length, simplistic gameplay mechanics and limited replayability, I'm not certain I got my money's worth. I vehemently disagree with IGN and Joystiq, both of which picked it as last year's Game of the Year, but it's still a fine game. It's similar to the way that I feel that Forrest Gump and The King's Speech are good movies and worth seeing, even if neither deserved their Best Picture Oscar.
Besides I'm a contrarian and an outlier when it comes to opinions about those two particular games. I feel that the gaming press were too wowed with their respective art-styles to really objectively judge those two games as games.
I liked Flower, but I also liked Journey. About the same amount. I'd have given both a 7-8/10.

Re: Official PSN Games Thread
Yeah, that's an easy $4...reminds me why I thought it was interesting in the first place. I just have this (maybe irrational) $10 price ceiling for downloadable games that kept me from getting it earlier.
Anyway, thx!

I find many Downloadable games to be more worth their cost than many full titles.

I also always pay < $40, often around $25. But I have a stack of shame since I tend to get bored of many "immersive" games pretty quick, the lack of fun gameplay is surprisingly prevalent these days. Oddly it's not the cut scenes or dialog that gets me, the games just tend to not be very much fun when they get going.

I'm with Decker. Journey is worth $4 but I felt I got the shaft at $10 and that was even a sale price from $15.
The blind, no chat co-op concept is brilliant. Other than that it's a pretty average "game."
For reference, I'd be down for a double dip of Flower on PS4, but I'll be fine if I never boot up Journey again.

I wasn't a fan of Journey, at all, just to note - so it wasn't the revelatory game that made me think Download titles are awesome.

Anyone play this? Is it worth $2.50 to an old school JRPG fan? (And since I am such a fan, I'll probably buy it regardless, really just interested in opinions from anyone who's played it.)

I picked up Skullgirls after the $3.75 sale price went into effect today. Looking forward to checking it out -- I'm always up for a new 2D fighting game (that doesn't just involve diving and kicking).
One thing that's interesting : I wasn't aware of this, but thanks to a successfully crowd-funded Indiegogo project, Skullgirls will be adding four new DLC characters sequentially over time and each will be free on any system for the first three months. So it's sort of like $3.75 gives you the game AND the Season Pass. Couldn't pass that one up!
Now have to decide about Dyad. Will have to revisit that demo (which didn't do anything for me the first time around, when the game was full price).

Journey: so far. Really atmospheric and...not sure how to describe it...relaxing?
I also downloaded the demo for Retro/Grade...just a rhythm game in different packaging...not for me.
Skullgirls does look interesting, but fighting games just lost me somewhere along the way.

Not points, but PSN cards. You get them at a slight discount 5% at Sam's Club (and also Best Buy until the end of the month). No way Sony ever gets my credit card information again.
If I ever need then right away, Amazon sells them at full price, but delivers the codes instantly online

Yeah, that's why I was debating it. I wanted to pick up Journey, but didn't want to go out and buy a $20 PSN card since this is the first thing I tried to buy in over 5 years. At the same time, I don't feel comfortable giving them my CC info again. I guess if it comes down to it, I'll wait and just hope it goes free on PS+ sometime.

I use my CC for that exact reason. I don't want to have to spend 20 or 50 dollars anytime I get the urge to buy a 5 dollar game (and I don't buy them very often, so the money would just be sitting there in my account for a while). I still have the same info that was on there during the previous outage, and there was never any fraud committed on my account. I'm not too scared, because even if it does happen, credit card fraud is easy enough to get overturned. I wouldn't put a debit card on there though.
