Re: Official PSN Games Thread

Yeah, I went back and tried Pinball FX and it seems pretty inferior by comparison. I control the flippers with L2 & R2 and it works pretty well -- Using L1 & R1 would be pretty cramp-inducing.
All four tables are very detailed and very good. No clunker like that "Xtreme" one on FX. I'm really impressed with this game (even if I suck at it). I do notice that I get a lot more of the "side out" ball losses in this game compared to FX and wonder if I should be nudging more than I do. Also, even though it disables the trophies and the leaderboards, it's cool that you can adjust the incline. Wish I could do that with the annoying Halloween table from FX that seems to be at a very sharp incline angle.

Just got me a PSN card today so Zen Pinball will be mine! I hope to get into it more when I get back next week.

If it had the updated graphics like the GC version did, I'd be in, but I'd rather buy the Wii RE Archives version personally.

I'd expect that it's a PS One Classic, with regular PS1 graphics and playable on the PSP. As I've posted above, those games are a tremendous deal at $5.99. I bought Crash 3 and Syro 3 and really enjoy playing them both, as does my daughter (with Spyro, Crash is too hard). Anyway, there some of the best deals around.

I've been trying to decide whether to get this or the Williams Collection on PS2 for the past couple of weeks. The demo is pretty fun though!

But it is listed at $9.99. If it was $5.99, then yeah, that is a solid deal, but I'll spend the $10-$15 on the better graphic GC version.

Zen is a pretty great game, that's for sure. I say : buy it. (Alternatively, I might gameshare it with you. PM me if interested).

In that case, it's a pass for me. Castlevania SOTN was PS1 graphics and $9.99 also, but the rest have been cheaper.

Re: Official PSN Games Thread

I'm sorry if this has been answered before but I'm too lazy to search the entire thread to find out. Do the PSone games have reduced load times once downloaded?

On the PSP, the load times are very brief. I assume they're as brief on the PS3 as well.

The downside of the Williams Collection on PS2 is it is missing two tables on the PSP and Wii versions. I loved the Williams Collection and bought it for both Wii and PSP. I personally prefer that to Zen. The physics are a bit more realistic on the Williams collection and it is based on real tables I remember. I only wish they would redo both Pinball Hall of Fame collections in HD.

I've enjoyed Zen Pinball somewhat, but if I still had a PS2 or backwards compatible PS3, I'd go for the Williams Collection instead.

Re: Official PSN Games Thread

Thanks fellas!!!

I actually ordered the PS2 version of Williams for $15 from Amazon along with Samauri Showdown Anthology for $13.

It's largely for my son, who really seemed to like the demo of Zen, but he does most of his gaming in the office on the PS2, Gamecube and Wii....so this way he'll actually get to play it a bit.

Wasn't willing to spend the extra on the Wii version.

I tell you though...I love the pinball controls on the Wii version. Hands don't get cramped as you can hold them apart and hit the triggers on the nunchuck & wiimote. It feels more like true pinball flippers than any of my pinball games using the PS3/PS2 and 360/Xbox controllers.

Re: Official PSN Games Thread

Final Fantasy VII is reportedly going to be available tonight.

It seems there was a Trash Panic video that went up last week, but the game itself is still a vague "early June." Maybe this week? It looks like the first really neat new puzzle game in a while.

Re: Official PSN Games Thread

If FF VII is $10 it is an immediate buy. Trash Panic sounds cool for $5.

When you transfer it to your PSP, can you do it piece by piece (like the original release was split into multiple discs)? Or do I need to free up 1.32 gigs of space on a memory card?
