Picked it up on my lunch break. Guess I'll be playing Max Payne while Diablo does its thing.

YEAH! Been waiting all day to pick my copy up and play, just to be able not to log in.

The bad news? I expected this.

The good news? I expected this.

Also, I can play some Alan Wake on my 360 while I wait this out. Hopefully I can get on Diablo III without issue around 8pm EST, but if not, I can play my other game I'm in the middle of (and yes, it's my first play through of Alan Wake).

Hooray, New Egg shipped it now. Hopefully I'll get the game in a couple of days.

You expected a major release title to have so many issues that you could not even log into the game due to lack of server capacity?

Bugs I expect.

However for a single person game that had no reason to be forced into a online system in the first place I expected more from Blizzard.

The game should have allowed you to play offline and only had the system to login for people who wanted to play while chatting or who wanted to group up.

I play Wow and have never seen them experience this many issues on launch day of a new expansion.

re: Diablo III + Reaper of Souls (multi-platform)

as soon as servers are back up I am playing again...I like to take my time and explore and not push push push like some...I have a level 16 monk, but that group will not be on tonight so I will role a new character for anybody..

also, if you have steam, I like to use steamchat while playing, but no big deal if you don't want to hear my voice...just add me, I think my steam username is foxdvd

Argh, I finally have time to play and the servers are down. I was already wary of requiring an online connection for a game that isn't an MMO, and this is exactly why.

It's really not that simple. They pretty much were forced to make it online only due to the amount of hacking in previous games. The only other option would of been a completely offline mode, where your character wouldn't transfer over, but I imagine not too many people would be interested in that. That would also make it easier for hackers.

I would have loved that.

Then I could play a character that is online if I want to play with their real money Ah and play offline when i want to be left alone and just play the game.

I think you underestimate how many people would have been happy with this solution.

Maybe, but it really doesn't matter. Blizzard had plenty of reasons that I think make sense to them making it online only. It just sucks that their servers weren't ready.

re: Diablo III + Reaper of Souls (multi-platform)

My system runs the game fine. i am playing it on whatever the default is. i may try to see how much higher i can go. I didn't get any errors and got into a server easily. I only had 15 minutes to play but hot damn that was a fun 15 minutes. i love being a barbarian and knocking the f--- out of these monsters. Finally a game that may tear me away from Dark Souls for a while.

I got the CE and the CE guide. Never done that for a game before.

re: Diablo III + Reaper of Souls (multi-platform)

Just played with FoxDvd for an hour or so. I have to run it at the lowest settings to get it to run somewhat smooth on my Macbook. Only problem is that at the lowest resolution it's almost impossible to make out chat text. My 9400m graphics card sucks the big one.

re: Diablo III + Reaper of Souls (multi-platform)

I'm installing this again on Windows 7 on my Mac using fusion and I'll see if it runs better. From what I've read I should be able to bump the resolution up and except a better fps....we shall see.

re: Diablo III + Reaper of Souls (multi-platform)

My Macbook has to have the settings pretty low as well. I'm loading it on my desktop PC to see if I can max it out.

And I did finally get to play it. Liking it a lot so far. I'm playing as a monk to start.

re: Diablo III + Reaper of Souls (multi-platform)

so i guess the major problem with my buddy's install is Windows Vista. I guess there are literally thousands upon thousands of posts on Blizzard's support forum about people having issues with Vista. I've told him about 20 times to upgrade to 7 but he refuses. He has never installed a single patch/upgrade since he's had Vista. It's not surprising he's having problems.

I had to install service pack 2 for vista... and it seems to be installing fine for me
