Great art for Okami... Makes me want to try and like the game.

I am now a part of the Wii generation!
I went to Best Buy around noon today. They were keeping the Wiis behind the counter, but they seemed to have plenty of them.
So, next question ... what are the must have games? I picked up Zelda and Super Mario Galaxy. What else should I be buying?
Also, my wife is looking to incorporate the Wii into her exercise routine. So we obviously have Wii Sports, and I know Wii Fit is coming out in a few weeks. What are the other games that could be considered something close to exercise?

That is, unless you already have it for the PS2.
And another game you need to get (again, if you didn't play it on the PS2) is Resident Evil 4, which is way better on the Wii.
And you should also get Metroid Prime 3.

Okami looks cool, I'll definitely put that on my shopping list. And a Metroid game is a no-brainer for me -- I haven't had a Nintendo platform since the original NES, but I've always look longingly at the Metroid and Zelda games as they are released.
Resident Evil is a maybe for me. I have plenty of shooters for the 360 -- Gears of War, Halo 3, Orange Box, Bioshock. What makes this one worth getting?
Speaking of the 360 -- I set my Wii up in its jaunty little vertical stand, but then I remembered the absolute horrors that stem from standing a 360 vertical. Does the Wii have the same problem, or am I OK to stand it vertically?

My son and I are enjoying both House of the Dead 2/3 and Ghost Squad this weekend.

Resident Evil for Wii dumps the traditionally shitty tank like RE series controls. That's the main reason to buy it for the Wii. Up until RE4 Wii, I had never finished an RE game. But this version was fantastic. RE4 is the main reason I like the Wii.

Another new Wii owner. I read some of the game suggestions, thanks for that. What should I look to purchase accessory-wise? I have plenty of rechargeable AA batteries, so am covered there. Assume that monoprice is the best place to get a component cable...
What else?
Also, am I just stuck paying retail for extra controllers, or are there deals to be had out there?
TIA!

You don't need any other accessories, most are gimmicky and not useful IMO. One that you may want is the Classic Controller if you want to play a few games like that instead of with the WiiMote (such as Super Smash Bros. Brawl or Mario Kart). As long as you have some rechargeable batteries and the Wii Component cable (the Monoprice one works great), you're good to go.
As for the WiiMote, you're stuck paying retail prices. Sometimes you come across a coupon here or there for a B&M store video game accessories.
Also, don't forget to update the Wii as the first thing you do.

Thanks, steebo. I haven't taken it out of the box yet, but will update it as soon as I do.
What about the Zapper? Is that worth the $18.99 it's showing up in my Amazon GoldBox for?
*Stupid Question Alert* - Obviously I can/must use GCN controllers for my old games. Can the GCN controller be used for any current Wii games (SSBB comes to mind)?

Well, WiiPlay was on my list since you get the controller with it. Surfing around a bit, I answered my own question about the GCN controllers. Seems you can play many of the first-party games with it. That helps.
What's the best golf game to get? My son really likes Tiger Woods on GCN. Is that the one to get, or is there a better version on the Wii?
