didn't know that... i always thought you have to create a folder for the corresponding folder (like that of the PSP). Well, if Show All works, then the pics, musics on the SD card for the Wii will show up in the PS3 too (w/o creating folders and stuffs, neat).

I've been thinking about doing that with my kids movies so there is no disc handling. I was hoping to use appleTV though.

So I ended up getting a PS3 afterall, mainly for movies, but I have been checking out some demos and stuff. One thing I've noticed on a couple different games that really irks me, is that they say to play online, a ethernet broadband connection is required.

WTF? What the hells the point of having built in wireless if you can't use that to play online? There's no way I'm wiring ethernet up to my game room, so if this is a sign of things to come, I guess I'll be doing any game playing offline.

Why do you assume that "ethernet broadband connection" means wired?

I think they just mean that you need to have a broadband connection. I've only used wireless for the PS3 and it works just fine...

I'm new to PSN (just got a PS3)...

There aren't demos for all of the games, are there? So the new PixelJunk Monsters game you just have to buy and hope you like it?

Well, considering that there are 2 ways to hook your PS3 up to the internet:

1) Ethernet CABLE
2) wireless

They specifically say ETHERNET broadband required, I don't see how you can interpret that as anything else.

Ethernet is a networking card. "Ethernet Cable" is actually Cat 5/6 cable, it's called Ethernet Cable because it connects to an ethernet card. Ethernet cards can be wired or wireless. Wired Ethernet, Wireless Ethernet. And wireless works swimmingly on the PS3 (unless you got the 20gb model) for streaming/downloading/gaming.

I think they just mean you need a high bandwidth internet connection, eg. Not a modem, not ISDN, probably not even dual link ISDN.

Well, my dad finally sent me a Dual Shock 3. A white one, no less. I like it. A lot, actually. It's a little heavier than the sixaxis and feels more substantial; still it weighs a lot less than a 360 controller, probably a lttle more than half as much . I have to disagree this Corvin about his kool-aid drinking comment to an extent. Yes, the vibration is pretty minimal in R&C just a little jolt when hit and a really faint jostle in rapid fire mode, but in Resistance, it's much beefier feedback. You feel good jolts with every trigger fire and being able to feel every hit really makes the game a lot more tolerable. Surprisingly, the bowling game has feedback support and it's pretty satisfying to feel a solid thud when your ball hits the lane and the rumble of falling pins.
After a game update that took literally over a half-hour to DL, Motorstorm plays nicely with feedback. They even have an option for off/low/med/high rumble, which I've never seen before. It works well with the game and med is just fine for tactile feedback. Sadly, it appears Dirt is not rumble compatible.

Bottom line : The Dual Shock 3 is everything that the sixaxis was and more. I'm very happy with the item. If you need a second controller, wait for this one. If you need a third or fourth, wait for this to come out and the sixaxis will be clearanced out and dumped on ebay cheap. This will make the sixaxis as out-of-date as the original dual analog PS1 controllers were once the original Dual Shock came out.

As I said before there is an [english] demo of PixelJunk Monsters on the Japanese PSN. Just open up a Japanese account and have fun. The demo makes a good impression btw.

Rumble of falling pins doesn't make any sense at all. Have you EVER felt the pins fall when bowling in real life?

I definitely want one. I was going to wait, but the Amazon $19.99 deal was too much too resist and I picked up a second Sixaxis. Still I can always use a third controller and it will be a DS3.

Maybe not, but to some extent it's nice to feel the solid rumble of a strike and also it gives you different tactile feedback if you hit one pin or two so you know right away if you picked up that split or not.
It certainly isn't essential in the bowling game, but I feel it does enhance the play and I wasn't expecting it to be included.

Just got a PS3 and I'm enjoying it so far. But I have a few questions.

Is there any private chat available? Me and a friend would private chat on the 360, while playing online together.

Also, for me, 1080i games are displaying at 720p. Blu-Ray movies play at 1080i though. But for example, when I load Call of Duty 4, at the first title screen it is 1080i, and then switches to 720. Any reason why?

Only certain versions are backwards compatible. Depends which one you have?
