Re: Burnout Paradise

I'm a pretty die-hard Burnout Paradise guy, and I think Surf Island and the Knight Rider car are the only things worth downloading at this point...maybe the De Lorean, but you get a toy version of it in Surf Island.

Cops and Robbers was only interesting for a bit, and Party Mode isn't where this game shines.

Not that all of this isn't worth it, but how much longer are they going to squeeze more money out of this title and start working on a NEW Burnout?
Is this sarcasm? I really can't tell.

Nope. It's $29.99 with the game.

Re: Burnout Paradise

Yeah...this whole games being cheaper 4 years after they come out is a wholly new concept.

I wonder if it could be converted. Each save on the PS3 goes in a folder that's connected to the game. I noticed that my save for the download version has a different folder name from what the disc version uses. Maybe the only thing identifying it is that folder name, and you could change the name of the folder to that of the download version and transfer it back to the PS3.

My save folder is called NPUB30040, while the disc-based games use something starting with BLU or BCU.

Re: Burnout Paradise

I'd hate to lose my Burnout save.

$30 is an ABSURDLY good deal for that much content. If I didn't already own this game and have all of the DLC I want, I'd be all over this one.

Amazing game...much better than the demo would imply. Basically, once they put in the option to restart, it was perfect.

I had actually thought about that. I saw on other boards people talking about how the saves are under different named folders and therefore incompatible, but it made me wonder why someone didn't just change the name of the folder. I was suprised that no one that I found at least mentioned it.

Would you be willing to try renaming the folder and see if it works?

Great deal if you've never played this game. AFAIK, this is a PSN deal only as of now.
Never bought any of the DLC, but BSI has been on my short list of stuff to buy for a while. I'll wait and hope that this thing comes to the Xbox instead. It's something like $60 worth of content, if one was to buy it all separately. Fantastic deal.

Re: Burnout Paradise

Well, I sold my 360 copy to an employee's kid for $10 and bought the complete PS3 version for a net cost of $19.99 to me. Don't mind restarting the game since I never got that far anyway. Looking forward to trying the complete version out. That is a pretty great deal.

Re: Burnout Paradise

I got the disc from Target clearance for $3.74 awhile back. I too have been waiting for some of the online content to drop, primarily Big Surf Island and Cops and Robbers. $20 seems like a good point for all of it for me ... total for all of it less than $25.

Re: Burnout Paradise

In case anyone was interested, if you order the complete bundle you get to download the 3.25GB game file and then all the DLC unlock keys.

So... you get the unlock keys for the disc based version if you have the disc and want to save the downloaded game for sometime in the future. I'm gonna finish my disc game with all the DLC and then will start over on the downloaded version later.

Re: Burnout Paradise

As another update, I tried to rename the save folders, copy items back and forth, but was unable to switch my disc-based save over to my download-based game. Luckily the complete bundle includes the time saver unlock, so I can get all the cars from the start. I don't even mind doing the races again. The only thing I wish I could have kept were the road rules stuff.

Re: Burnout Paradise

Yeah, I was surprised to find that Time Saver DLC in the bundle; it sort of kills your motivation to play through the game, but at least you don't waste time playing with crappy cars. I like the new Island. It's pretty fun to play online -- that seems like a popular "hang out" place.

No question that much content for $30 is a steal. Having it on the HDD will make it much easier for me to fire up at any time. The announcement page says this deal is "Extremely Limited", so I'd expect it to be pulled either this Thursday or the next.

Very good. This game probably sold just as well on PS3 as it did on 360 so there are always people to play with online even years later.

Yeah, this was probably the first dual-platform console game that didn't treat the PS3 like a second-class citizen.

IIRC, PS3 was the lead platform for Burnout Paradise, and I remember John Davison (former 1up) saying that the developers told him to buy it on PS3.

Right. I've played it on both and the 360 version is really good, but it is one of the most polished PS3 games I have played.

Re: Burnout Paradise

Super secret stealth sale* on Burnout Paradise DLC for the Xbox 360:

Burnout Paradise Add-ons

Big Surf Island for 560 (was 1000)
Time Savers Pack for 400 (was 800)
Party for 400 (was 800)
Toy Collection for 400 (was 1000)
Legendary Cars Collection for 400 (was 640)
Cops & Robbers for 400 (was 800)
Boost Specials Collection for 400 (was 640)

Been waiting on a sale on this DLC ever since I got the game; I'm in for Big Surf Island at least for now, maybe the others later.

*Actually I don't know if this is a temporary sale or a permanent price drop, just wanted to go with "sale" for alliteration's sake

Burnout Paradise: The Ultimate Box is also apparently $5 on Steam today, too.

Re: Burnout Paradise

They had a huge, PS3-only sale on all that stuff back in February. $20 total for every piece of DLC they released.

Even on sale or whatever this is, this Xbox sale adds up to $37, I think, if one were to buy everything (it was $60-something). Still a good deal, but nowhere near as good a deal as PS3 owners got earlier this year.

Big Surf Island is a no-brainer at that price.
