Not a bad explanation, I tried playing MP on the MCC and fell asleep doing so. So I can actually see what you're talking about.

Back on page 4 there's a post that "id says the campaign will be 13 hours". Seems long for a shooter so hopefully it doesn't wear out its welcome. If it's 13 quality hours, total thumbs up for giving us our money's worth.

I'm sure this has to be floating in the wild by now. When is the embargo up?

Re: Doom (5/13/2016: Xb1, ps4, pc)

Looks like there weren't review copies for this.

http://www.polygon.com/2016/5/9/1164...ns-doom-review

Publisher Bethesda informed Polygon and other outlets in the middle of last week that they would not be providing advance copies of the game for review. Their explanation appears below.

DOOM is comprised of a single-player campaign, online multiplayer, and SnapMap. After discussing, we believe all three elements are important parts of the complete DOOM experience, and are meant to be experienced as part of a complete package. As DOOM’s SnapMap and multiplayer modes both require access to a server that won’t be live prior to launch, review copies will arrive on launch day.

My free game from Microsoft for buying the GOW Edition One back in November was running out of time so I took a chance on this over Homefront. Crossing fingers I made the right choice.

Sounds like bullshit, as usual, that's unfortunate -- I was hoping for a proper Doom revival.

Yeah, they may as well had said "our game is shit, and we don't want you to know that so you won't cancel your preorders."

To have such an extensive marketing push and no reviews in anticipation of launch....yeah, that sounds like a complete PR spin. It can't bode well for the final release.

Yup already on discount on PSN and no early reviews. I'm sure there is no problem with the game.

The 10% PSN discount for PS Plus members has been offered since the game went up for preorder. I don't think it has anything to do with the game's quality or lack thereof. The absence of review copies on the other hand.....

I dunno man, here's cam video of it running on GTX 1080 at about 200 frames per second, and it looks pretty friggin sweet.

And here's some impressions of the single-player game [PS4 version]:

That video did renew my interest. The mini-gun looked awesome. I grew up with Doom, Duke, Serious Sam, Quake, etc...so I think I'll have some fun with this.

People that have gotten then game early and have been playing it are leaving mostly positive impressions. Not a GOAT of a game or anything, but solid nonetheless.

Some reviews (based on retail copies, obviously) are starting to trickle in.

Here's a very positive one.

Sounds good to me!

Just the same deal as every other new game: If you have Amazon Prime, it's $47.99. If you are part of Best Buy's Gamers Club its $47.99.

Best Buy also had the $10 Reward Certificate with Pre-order, but that ship has sailed.
The price of Wolfenstein dropped really, really fast and The Old Blood want on digital sale very quickly as well. If they can wait a bit, you'll probably be able to save some money.

I can't recall a review ever losing me in the opening line before, but this one does :
2016 is the year of the first-person shooter. We've seen the likes of Superhot and Battleborn grace our screens already
