I will happily be playing my 360. It really doesn't matter if Live is down, because you can still play games just fine, just not with other people.

The outage is scheduled to end at 2 PM PST, which is 5 PM where I'm at, so I'll be at work while Live is down. So to answer your question, I will be wasting time on the DVDTalk forums working.

It's from midnight to 2pm Pacific time.

I'm on EST so from 3am to 7am I will be sleeping, then working until 5pm when it should be back up.

Doesn't affect me at all.

Will there be any improvements to XBL after the outage? I remember all sorts of upgrades with the original Xbox almost every time they went dark.

I think it's just maintenance. On the website they mentioned that this was NOT a dashboard update.

on Major Nelson's podcast, E said that it is basically back end maintenance that will allow implementation of features in the new dashboard update.

The big rumor I've heard about the new dashboard update is clan support, which would probably include group chat as well.

According to Major Nelson's podcast 2 weeks ago he said the dashboard update will not include clan support.

Clan support is when you can remain a group inside individual games without having to rejoin/reinvite your friends to your party every match.

Can't do it without Halo 2 as an example, sorry KS. It's like when you want to go from a deathmatch to team slayer to team deathmatch to capture-the-flag to King-of-the-Hill to a ranked battle. Most games force you out of your party each time you switch modes. Thus forcing you to start a new party and reinvite everyone.

98Nole is right, I remember hearing the same thing. He did not dismiss it altogether though so a potential fall update could include it. The big rumor is that MS is going to make that clan/MP code available to all developers once Halo 3 hits because by then they will have an all new system in place.

i just wanted something in broader terms. Its been over a year since I played Halo 2, so i didn't think I could relate to the example as well, for some reason.

why not impliment the system now, so its flawless by that time?

Yep. They've gone 2 hours over the 14 they scheduled.

Won't affect me too much since it's "American Idol" night and I normally don't sign on 'til after 9 p.m. anyway.

I'm guessing it's still down right? When I test for xbox live connections in network settings I keep getting an mtu failure which I've never had before.
