Please rank the Final Fantasies
I finally got a playstation 2 system just for the RPGS and wanted to know how everyone would rank the games in the series. Since the system can play both PS One and Two, please be sure to consider all games in the series you may have played.
Thanks
Thanks

Didnt play the others. 4 has sentimental value for me that why #1, but 6 may be the better game. 7 gets a lot of attention for ushering in the RPG craze that is still going on, and will prpbably be #1 on many lists because of that (sentimental like #4 on my list).

I'd say it depends. The PS1 versions of some of the older games, which were put in collections, are inferior versions compared to the similar ones that are out for the GBA (and maybe in the near future an upgraded DS version), so I'd skip those. That leaves VII and up.
VII is still good, but I think a bit dated at this point.
VIII is (or was for it's time) beautiful, but very tedious (with the drawing of spells and the guardian beasts, and the interchangeable characters). Probably the worst of the PS1/2 specific titles.
IX is a great throwback to the old games, and I enjoyed it a great deal.
X is a step up in the graphics dept because of the move to PS2.
XI is online, and not even playable without a HDD
XII is graphically outstanding for a PS2 game.
I'd probably rate them:
XII
X
IX
VII
VIII
leaving XI out since it's totally different and might not be playable on your system.

I'm a old-school junkie, so....
IV
VI
V
III
I
II
...
loading...
...
and at the bottom...
All that androgynous Playstation non-stop cutscene stuff, especially X-2.
Except for IX, which was pretty cool.

How any of you can't put #1 first is beyond me. It's legendary. There was nothing like it when it came out. I still play through it every few years or so with different combinations of characters. It's revolutionary.

I have all the games but have only had a chance to play FFVI (FFIII on the SNES) and FFVII and both were memorable. I have a huge backlog of RPGs to play and no time. Go figure.
FYI - One of the FF has difficulty on the PS2. It's either FF Anthology or FF Chronicles but I'm leaning towards Anthology. This is one of the 10 or so games that isn't fully compatible with the system. If I recall correctly, I think it had an issue with the save files, tended to corrupt it. Give Sony a call to verify it at 1-800-345-7669. This was with the larger PS2s, I don't know if there was a fix for the slimmer ones.

All the games that came out n the playstation were good except 8.
7 - It has the most beloved characters of the series. You'll see Cloud and the gang popping up in other games from time to time. Mini game city. Not only do you play the standard RPG but you getting a skiing game, motor bike game, sub game, and some other games. I like the concept of putting these jewel things in your weapons to give you magic power and stuff. All FF games have introduce a new system of combat and this is one of the better ones.
6- Or 3 in the US, The Story made this game. The bad guy with his evil laugh was just great. The only thing I didn't care for was that everybody could do magic, it made the mages less special
8 - I hate this game. The story was boring. I don't remember how they did the combat but whatever it was was bad. The only good thing was the card game within the game.

I know I'm in the minority, but I enjoyed 8 the most. Was totally caught up in the card game and I loved the look of the characters. Yes, summoning beasts was huge chore, but the rest of the game rocked, IMO.
The worst? 10. Totally linear BS the first couple of hours. Looked great, but no opportunities to explore early in the game.

Haven't played 11, so I can't comment on it.
There's also Tactics which is excellent and worth checking out, though I think they're making a remake for the PSP so you might want to wait for that one.
