Finished Knights of the Old Republic - Question (Spoilers)
I just finished the first Star Wars: KOTOR on a light side quest. Excellent game, BTW! But I have a question reagarding finishing the game on a dark side quest. I'll put the rest in spoilers just in case I give away anything to those who haven't played it yet.
Spoiler:
So my question is, if I play the dark side quest: Spoiler:

Without giving away too much, if you decide to turn to the dark side, you will get a different and darker ending following your confrontation with Malak.
Spoiler:
If you don't have the patience to play it through again from the point where you have to make that crucial decision, just use the cheat mode and zip on through to the end. |

Nope, guess it isn't all that comfortable to make out with a person who will eventually stab you in the back.

Spoiler:
It is worth it to play a new game as a Dark Jedi. Some of the other things in the game change too. You can Force choke people and others you can scare so bad they run away. Also, your appearence changes the more Dark Side you become. If you get your Light/Dark meter thing maxed on the Dark Side, your character is more ugly than the Emperor in Return of the Jedi. You didn't have to kill her. It is possible to save her.

I tried a few of the different conversation scenarios to persuade her to turn to the light side, but they never worked....I figured there was no way to turn her. I'll have to see if I have a save point back before I fought her, but I think I saved another game on top of it.

I turned her back from the dark side. I made my character highly persuasive, so maybe that helped. Perhaps it was also our relationship before that... I pushed the romantic angle with her.

I was able to turn her back to the light side at that battle as well. I never managed to get through atain on the dark side. I started on it a year after doing the light side, but going around being a dick and killing everyone just got old fast for me and I only made it about half way before getting sick of it.

I was always a smart-ass with her abou the romance, but pursued it...I only had 3 or so persuasion points, so maybe that was too low. But after playing through once, iot's nice to know what to spend force points on if I want to play it again.

I brought her back as well. I figured I'd need to kill her, but then she decided to fight on the light side again.

I played KOTOR with my character as a female (named her Eplicana), so she obviously didn't get any in the end.
Persuading characters can be hit-and-miss, even when you have high persuasion points. When I played it, I wanted to settle the Sandral-Matale feud so both fathers agreed to let their children marry. It took me like a dozen tries from a saved point before I could accomplish that. Most of the the time both fathers would be stubborn in their resolve. |

There is actually a lesbian romance available, as well as an option to romance Carth if you are so inclined.

There should be an incest romance option, what with it being a Star Wars tradition and all (Luke & Leia makin' out).

I just finished playing KOTOR myself, and like the OP, I totally had the hots for Bastila. It's a lot of fun to wind her up and get her all frustrated at you...major UST there. Unfortunately, I was playing a female, so I didn't get any romance option with her. Yeah, I think the key to saving her is to talk to her a lot throughout the game, and have high persuasion (my character was a smooth-talking scoundrel type). And even though I was a Light Side female, I didn't really get anywhere with the
Spoiler:
By the way, one of the posters above mentioned that you could team up with her to fight Malak. Is this true? I kept trying to convince her to come with me, but she just stayed behind to use her Battle Meditation against the Sith. I think I'll take a break for now (maybe finally start Fallout 2), then go back and play as a Dark Jedi. Did anyone else think that Carth was unbearably annoying, what with all the whining?

I finally played this again but as an evil guy...much quicker game and better force powers. The game was WAY to easy the 2nd time around and I ended up joining Bastilla to win at the end. But you do not team up with her to fight the big battle...you must do it alone--not that it's very hard. It's actually a LOT easier than 4 or 5 of the other battles within the game.

Yeah, the battle with Malak was pretty tough for me, because my character wasn't really built for fighting...more of a support-type character (my main offensive force powers were stasis field & destroy droid). I relied on Juhani & Bastila for tanking. But, I was able to get through it using the Sith Shield and a lot of life-support packs. Maybe grenades would help, as well.
