if you like advance wars then I would give Fire Emblem a shot. Picture advance wars with rpg elements.

Advance Wars (1 & 2) if you like a tactical game

Final Fantasy Tactics: Advance is a nice tac-RPG

and finally, for a fantastic general all-around game, Wario Ware Mega Microgame$$

Wario Ware helped me keep my sanity for the first three months of my newborn son's life. I would play the minigames while rocking the screaming lil' guy to sleep.

I'll second
Wario Ware -- a game even my wife likes
Mario & Luigi
Metriod Fusion

and add
Yoshi's Island (SMA3) - Terriffic game with amazing graphics.
Super Monkey Ball jr - Works suprisingly well on the GBA
Karnaaj Rally -- a fun little racer.
Sonic Pinball -- a good pinball game, only at Target

Street Fighter Alpha 3 is an incredible fighter. WOW. I cannot fathom how they squeezed all that info into a little cartridge. Now let me digress here for a minute...remember how the MEG size of a cartridge was a big bragging right type of thing and imoprtant to gamers...? I used to brag to friends that Strider for the Genesis was a unholy 8 megs! Just for curiosity sake, aside from illegal rom dumps which I don't mess with, how is there a way to find out the meg size for the catridges now?

No one's mentioned Ninja Five-O yet. Strange name but the game is pretty good and not as quirky as its title. And it has ninja's in it, can't get much better than that.

Metroid Fusion

Mario and Luigi

FFTA

Fire Emblem

Another good underrated one is Klonoa 2

Also Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town is great!

Wario Ware

Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire
