Halo 2 Release date changed again *UPDATE*

Today it was discovered that Microsoft, via the Xbox web site, has changed the release date of Halo 2 to an indefinite date. No word from Microsoft or Bungie on why the release date was changed from spring 2004 to indefinite.

I don't if this is good or bad. :/

::UPDATE::

UPDATE: Apparently there was some brief confusion, as the Web page for Halo 2 no longer says the release date is indefinite and now reads "March 2004." Breathe a sigh of relief now.

Perhaps we'll be seeing it earlier than expected, but that's just the optimist in me talking. Most likely they'll move it back to winter 2004 in time for Christmas.

I'm pretty sure the bulk of their online hopes lay in the lap of Halo 2. They can brag about the numbers of Crimson Skies or Ranbow Six 3, but the reality is that Live needs Halo 2 badly. I doubt they'll be too happy if Bungie delays until the next Hoilday season.
Since so much is riding on this game though, they don't want to rush it or put up an arbitrary date they won't make (like HL2 did).

I would say bad. I have been waiting a while for this game, and now I'm getting annoyed.

I heard it'll be the flagship title for the X-Box 2.

Looks like Nintendo is going the way of Sega. Oh wait, this is a Microsoft game? Sorry, what I meant to say was I'm glad they're taking the extra time to make sure this game is done correctly.

Agreed. I got plenty to hold me over until then. It's like having money in the bank for a rainy day. When it does come out, I'll make my withdrawal. (And probably call in sick for a week or so.)

So many great games out right now that I am perfectly content to wait for quality.

It would be a bad thing if I didn't have a PS2. Good GC and X-box exclusives are few are far between.

But like you said, I'd rather MS and Nintendo delay their big games and get them right, rather than rush them out full of bugs. Leave that crap for PC gaming.

It makes a lot of sense for MS to hold this over for Christmas 2004. There's going to be a lot of noise from both Sony and Nintendo right around then:

- PSP, MGS3 for sure
- GTA 5, Metroid Prime 2, Wind Waker 2 good bets for release

Not to mention it'll be just in time for a wave of Xbox Live renewals...

I wouldn't be suprised if they're trying to simultaneously release it with Half-Life 2. What happened now? Halo 2 code get stolen?

Hey Bungie
1. get gun
2. aim gun at foot
3. shoot gun at foot

Hey, that would probably be doing more than they're doin considering the game was supposed to be out last summer...

What's with all the anger? I thought this was already known news? MS slapped a release date on it. And then said it was delayed a little later. From Q4 2003 to Q1 2004. It's been known to be coming out Q1 2004 for a while now.

Yeah, I read it. From what I remember though, it has always been a Q1 2004 release date. Call it what you will, Q1 2004, Spring 2004, March 2004..

They changed from Spring 2004 to March 2004. So, does that really mean it's delayed again? It just went from somewhat ambiguous to more specific.
