Panzer Dragoon game saves

Just bought this game and I played through the first level. When I quit and wanted to save it turns out that there was already a game save at that point.... from my wife. Fine, I'll just save in another area. What area? I can't find a place to save this game with more than one person playing it at different times.
Can't find a spot to create a name. Seems weird for such a killer game like this.

Is this typical? Maybe I need to look harder, but with some games like Max Payne you can save all over the freakin' place.

What gives?

It's the only game I have that I can recall where this is the case. I find it pretty irritating too. I haven't seen anything else either -- although perhaps with a memory card. -- haven't tried it.

Thanks Tuan... a friend at work also suggested a memory card, but part of the reason for owning an Xbox is not having to buy a memory card.

Thankfully, I have other games to play while my wife goes through Panzer, but she's a lot slower getting through them. Annoying issue.

you can find a used memory card for cheap nowadays at either gamestop or EB. Pro'lly around $15. In the end it's good to have anyways.
