Need Impressions About Emperor Rise Of The Middle Kingdom - Play or Pass?

It's only $20 bucks at Fred Meyer and it looks like a pretty good city builder game. I need some impressions from people who has played it.

Do you battle in the game or is it just strictly city building?

I enjoyed the game alot. It is mostly building, and setting up trade routes with other cities, but there is some fighting. You can set up armies and defenses and be granted heroes to aid you, but there's not much to it strategically. If you ever played Caesar, Pharaoh, or those similar games, you'd be right at home with Emperor.
