Animal Crossing Question... its about a gift that won't go away...
My wife received a present in the mail. She cannot open it, she cannot throw it away.
How would she go about getting rid of it?

I have this same problem and I don't know what to do about it. It's no good when your inventory is full and you have to start droppoing items on the ground.
I don't remember using the post office as storage for items. Your mail yes but items no. Does this happen after your mortgages are paid off?
