GameCube owners: Are you getting Skies of Arcadia : Legends?

I hadn't heard anything about this game until a few weeks ago, but after reading a little and checking out some of the videos, it looks pretty nice. Not counting Paper Mario, I haven't played a decent turn-based RPG since Earthbound and Chrono Trigger back in SNES days. I'm looking forward to playing this type of game on the GCN.

Apparently it comes out next Tuesday (1/28), so I wanted to start a thread to get people talking about it. I may pick this one up to hold me over until the Zelda pre-order disc gets here.

Already put down my pre-order for it, I sold my DC version long ago when I heard this was coming (the darn thing wouldn't even load anymore anyay), the extra quests sound pretty cool, especially a certain set of 3 characters pictured at the top of IGN Cube's preview . I suggest checking it out, they have a lot of good info.

Probably not. At least not for a while.

I won't have time for something as involving as a RPG until this summer, as I start back at grad school Tuesday.

I'm a very casual RPG fan as well (i.e. really only play Final Fantasy games).

I'll will be picking this game up, but not till after I finish Zelda when it comes out. This games does rock by the way. I played about 8 hours of it on Dreamcast. But when I heard that it was coming to GC with added content, I decided to wait for it.

I've already beaten the first version on the Dreamcast and I will pick up the Cube version. I'll probably wait till the price drops though since it won't be a totally new experience for me.

I probably will get it, but I need to finish Kingdom Hearts (which has trumped Metroid by a longshot) then finish the new Zelda. I should be able to finsh KH and Metroid before Zelda comes out. After that I'll be in need of a followon and Skies of Arcadia is #1 on my list.

It's been a great year for games.

Question.. is this an RPG where you can DO stuff (ie: Dragon Warrior) or an RPG where it's basically an animated storybook (ie: Final Fantasy) .. ?

It's by Sega right? So that's a good sign..

Same here. However, if you haven't played the DC version I would definitely recommend it.

This was the best RPG I have ever played.

My only complaint was that the random encounter rate was too frequent - but I heard that they lowered it for the GC version and made leveling up quicker to balance things out. This would make the game perfect - exept for the 2 year old graphics - which still look pretty good.
