ATV Offroad 2 for PS2, I can't connect to any games. What's wrong?

Hi all, I just got 2 new things. 1) a router to share my broadband connection btw the computer and PS2. And 2) ATV Offroad Fury 2.

My PS2 will connect to the ISP and log in to the game servers with no problems on ATV and Madden, and I can play a game in Madden, but I can't connect to ANY races or freestyle games in ATV.

Can anyone help?

And no, I'm not sure I've conifgured the routher correctly, I'm not sure I even installed it correctly, I don't know from routers.

Sounds like the same problem I have with Twisted Metal Black Online. Every other games works except that one (I haven't tried ATV). I *think* I read that my problem was a port forwarding issue. I never really pursued it because I don't care for TMB anyway.

Try the scea forums too. I think they're linked from playstation.com.

You're thinking of ATV Quad Power Racing 2, not ATV Offroad fury 2 which is ps2 only as far as I know. Dunno if ATV Quad is on XBL.

Gamefaqs was a good idea, but there was no topic there. I posted a thread and after about 10 minutes it was in the middle of the third page. I bumped it, and will hope for the best.

My problem is that this is the first router i've ever used or had any experience with, and I'm not sure I got a good one. It's a Linksys NR041, it isn't even listed in the support section of their website. I got it this weekend at best buy. Should I take it back?

i also got that linksys router and regretted it. i can't hear anything through the headset with socom because it is blocking some ports that it uses. if atv uses those ports for something important, that could be the problem.

How can I find out what ports those are and open them?

Not sure if this is the same problem, but maybe you guys can answer my question. When i log on, and pick "race", i'm taken to the lobby where it says something like "38 games available" (or something like that) but then only 5 games show up, and when I go to the "freestyle" section, same thing "42 games available" and then no games show up on the screen to join..

can someone explain this?

At least with Socom, the router sucks, and it is not possible to open the ports it needs, so I am forced to play without using the headset. If it is a port issue with ATV, you might want to return that crappy router. I'm not sure how you can find any more info out besides searching some forums (maybe the playstation ones would help)

Good Luck

That's exactly what happens to me, but when I do click to join a game, I always get an error message saying that the game-join failed.

I'm not going to give up on the router yet, but if I can't figure this out in a couple of more days, I'll return it.

Oh ok, so I'm not the only one having this problem..

I'll say that I have the Linksys Befrs41 (or something like that) and Socom (with headset) and all other online games work fine. As far as not being able to join in ATV, I get that message too, but I keep trying different games and eventually, it lets me join, either that or I host my own game..

hope this helps!
