Him, it says Nintendo is responding to pressure from gaming on cell-phones... Wasn't there somebody on this board saying that cell phones were going to cut in the GBA? I can't remeber who that was...
(I'll await your equally annoying response. )

I just noticed that EB has the Gameboy SP on pre-order with some horrible bundle which I refuse to get 129.99 for a (99.99 system) and a 30 dollar EB coupon for your next order. I refuse to be forced to pay 30 dollars extra for a 30 dollar coupon since my cash is worth more to me than an EB coupon.

I'm strongly thinking about picking this up. I think I might be able to sell my current GBA + Cobra recharger for ~$50, and it would probably be $90 the first week, like the original GBA was... and that's only $40... which is ONLY 5 hours of work!
When I read about this at first in the USA Today, I was skeptical about it, but this thread is pushing me toward wanting to buy it

Am I the only one who sees the rechargers as a none-issue and maybe even problematic? I use NiMH for my GBAs and always have a spare along. Now I'd have to buy a second "special" battery if I wanted a spare.

The recharger is another reason I wouldn't buy one.
I play mine 99% of the time with an AC adapter (will be 99% of the time on the TV when the GC adapter comes out), and don't mind using plain old batteries on the rare occasions I play the GBA outside of the home.

I probably will Gallant. I'm definitely getting the GCN GBA player when it comes out. Whether I sell the GBA or not will depend on what I can get out of it, I kind of figure they won't go for very much after the SP comes out.

I already modded my GBA with the TV output adaptor to play on the big screen....
Then I put in the Afterburner....
Now I have the perfect machine and they go releasing this cool gadget?!
I can't imagine it looking much better than an Afterburner system, but I can't wait to see it.
If nothing else it will be fun when some kid with an sp makes fun of my original GBA and I get to show off the light and tv connection! whee!

i already own an arctic (white) gba, but i was very tempted to buy another gba (the black one at toys r us) during the holidays. its a good thing i didn't, but i wish nintendo would at least release the gba sp in all the colors to match the gamecubes, which is why i wanted the toys r us black to begin with. i know i could import the black gba sp, but it still doesn't make sense to me why they wouldn't release black in the US. unless... they wait a year and half after the release of the gba sp, and release a black exclusive to toys r us again after i buy one of the launch colors. bastards!

Just a few things I 've read elsewhere on the net that haven't been mentioned here yet:
- The screen locks at about 150 degrees, so you can't fold it out completely flat to resemble the original GameBoy.
- According to Nintendo, the reason it looks like it does (very low-key, square, and available in limited colors) is to appeal to adults. It's just another step in Nintendo's campaign to appear less 'kiddy'.
- A comment from Steve, working for Edge magazine: "Buttons and d-pad lie very flat, seem to be microswitched (you can hear a click when you press them.)"
- While it's possible to play and charge the batteries at the same time, the headphones adapter doesn't have a pass-thru so you can't listen through the headphones and charge at the same time.

I want a transparent "kiddie" color GBA-sp! I am soooo tired of grey/silver/metallic gadgets. If it is plastic, don't make it look like metal, I always think that looks crappy.
they could always make it postee note yellow!
